The concept of the game is really good i found an issue that you may want to look in to it, some times when 1 of 2 same enemies gets hit the other one also stops with it idk if that was intentional or a bug, over all i enjoyed the game especially the art i LOVE IT

I love the fact that you had two characters with different styles. I liked that there was some progression with them and you had to make some choices with each level. Overall it was pretty fun and I think you could expand on this idea with more combat variety, characters, enemies, and levels.
Great job!

Yupp I really wanted to give the feeling of two playstyles for replayability  and just because it feels right. True this game could be expanded on even further after the jam, but I like to think of this as a test in artstyle and magic for my dream game I'm starting on. Thanks for playing!

Your sprite work keeps improving with every project Soul and this is no exception! The gameplay was really fun as well. I played as the warrior and was able to make it through dying only once. Which felt like the right type of balance for difficulty. I also liked how you couldn't fully cheese the game with a single ability, using the full tool belt really felt worth while and satisfying. Great work!

Glad to hear the art is improving and the gameplay is balance! I tried to make each ability contribute something without it taking completely over. Thanks for playing!

So much cool stuff in this game. I loved the art and also the music. I ended up choosing the warrior for my playthrough and really liked the abilities, also getting rewarded with a new ability for beating each level and being able to choose what upgrade I want to fit my playstyle. Good job!

Developer

Sweet, I'm glad you enjoyed the upgrade progression. Thanks for playing!

Awesome entry! I was surprised every time a spell got introduced, i didnt expect there to be so much depth there. The giant guys are a nightmare! haha

Developer

Hehe I’m hoping to have that same reaction for my dream game about magic, so this was perfect practice! The big guys are definitely scary, I also tried to keep them hidden from any progress updates or itch page so it can be a fun surprise for everyone.  Thanks for playing the game!

Really fun and challenging game! I love the pixel art, music, sfx, and the upgrade system. I played as a mage first and enjoyed it so much I went back in as the warrior. It was tough, but if it were too easy, where would the fun be in that? Such a well-rounded game.

If I had to suggest anything, it would be a bit more story — even just a more exciting payoff at the ending would have been a nice reward after working so hard to seal the portals. I know that’s a lot to ask in a jam timeframe, so just some thoughts if you ever expand on it. The core gameplay was solid and super fun to play.

Also, sealing portals works well with the theme and didn't take it too literally, and I really enjoyed that aspect of your concept.  It mixed things up as most games did take it pretty literally, myself included!

Thanks for the detailed review, felt really nice reading it! I'm glad I was able to make a nice challenge curve and keep things well nit together, always wanted to make a dungeon diving game and this felt like such a perfect opportunity to give it a try. True, it was missing a little story, If I had extra time at the end I would've definitely added a quest post at the beginning and a quest completed ui to really spice up the lore of being an adventurer. But, I'm glad you had a great time playing!
