Really great idea! I love the randomized modifiers, the little slot machine was very satisfying. I would've liked a bit more to the combat, I was a little confused how an attack was blocked or not, and the arms on the gladiator are a little wonky but it has charm :P

I was able to back out left past the edge of the map, I think an end wall to make it feel like a true gladiator pit would add a lot there. Good work, would really like to see this one expanded in the future!

Thank you for playing! Indeed we didn't add any kind of tutorial, so the confusion is warranted. TLDR: you block by matching the enemy attack (if he attacks up, you have to move the mouse up to place your sword up). And yeah we forgot to make a left (and right xD) wall, so you can just go out and about hahaha

I liked the way that if you have fast reaction times you can stop the gambling machine at the right time to get exactly the powerup that you want and it's going just slow enough to do this adding some element of skill to the game.

I thought maybe the combat could be slightly more involved, maybe you could add blocking and have attacks deal less damage so the fight is a bit longer. Different types of attacks could deal deal different amounts of damage: slash, stab, headshot etc. I appreciate only a limited amount of work is realistically achievable in the short timeframe of a gamejam.

Overall this was a fun game to play. Nice work :)

Thank you so much for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Indeed we wished the fighting was more involved with a couple more moves at least, but we didn't have a lot of time so we had to make due with what we got xD

Really cool idea! I was initially put off by the slot machine on the screenshots but it's just a really fun way of what your stats will be in combat, of course with the limited time you were only able to make so many modifiers so the obvious suggestion is just that I wish there was more variety in modifiers and weapons. Art is nice! I could recognize that aesprite dither gradient from a mile away lol (also is the menu background based off of Balatro's)? I think combat could be a little more interesting, maybe a heavy attack that you can't block and have to move away from or something, really cool game, I'd like to see a version that's expanded on more as it's already very fun! Great work!
