Artistic Statement / Use of Theme
Scarf was characterized rather quickly, and everything fell into line from there. The “AI-Generated” enemies fit in with our theme of wildfires and the current water overuse crisis, and from there, many doors opened for theme exploration.
Development Summary
The development of the project was rocky but fulfilling. The project really began to take shape towards the end of its development, and with more time and love, it could become something truly remarkable. It’s unfortunate our level designer and cohort mentor were absent during development, but our team persevered and downsized where necessary; in the end, I couldn’t be any more proud of the work our nine-member team put out.
Release Plan
I don’t see this game being anything more than the love letter it was created to be. It gave many passionate people a wonderful opportunity to be part of something, and that within itself is enough for us.

The game is really good a topic not many people are talking about it right now. How the rise of AI is raising the effects of climate change due to more carbon emissions. The music and sound effects are really good. The collisions might feel frustrating because of the narrow level design sometimes. I know that is a design by choice but I think a more fine tuning would make it even more engaging with a better progression structure.
Orbyter is a super charming game. The platforming felt great once it all came together. I did run into some pathing and collision issues here and there, and a reset-to-checkpoint option would’ve been a huge help. Still, the atmosphere, polish, and clever mechanics really impressed me. Looking forward to seeing where this goes next!
I really like the character art and design, very cute. I do think level design should be adjusted a bit more cause there are parts where I had hard time to find where to go, or at least paths that doesn't lead to anywhere. But overall a good platformer.
Lovely game! The amount of effort and polish you've put under such a short time span is incredible! The art is fantastic and the characters are adorable. The gameplay was pretty fun and controls nicely.
Incredible game, I unfortunately didn't finish it because I glitched into the wall and had to restart completely after an hour of playing. I will play it again because it was a lot of fun and challenging. I loved the way you maximized the mechanics, and figuring out how they work was really fun. Each level felt like a puzzle. Idk what happened here. I was attempting to jump up to the digging wall above the one in the image, and then when I clicked Z, Scarf attached to the bigger wall on the inside, trapping me in the terrain. I couldn't get out, so maybe create a reset character mechanic in case this happens to other people. Overall, a fun and creative game, I am going to speedrun through to get the ending.
As a huge platforming fan this felt really nice to play ! I did encounter some issues with hitboxes at some point but chalked it up to me not having mastered the controls yet x) I really loved the aesthetics and the cutscenes, the art style is so charming and oozes with personality! I really hope you continue to work on this post jam because there's a lot of potential here! Congrats <3
I thought overall this was a really well made game! Similar to some other players, I had a couple issues with the collisions, specifically with the damage tiles being extremely unforgiving to the point of being damaged before even coming close to being in contact with them. I also would've liked WASD movement instead of arrows, and that took a lot of getting used to, especially at the beginning of the game. I absolutely adored the use of the theme though, and I was happy to see AI getting some inclusion in that as well. Overall, I can tell you guys put a lot of work into it, so congratulations!!
Couple bugs where I'd go through the map, but besides that it was really good. The level design felt very purposeful and I loved the adventure journal full of information. Use of checkpoints felt very forgiving, but not overly so. Really solid game. Good job!
The music was really good! I also liked the level design and the general level of polish the game has. The core gameplay is also simple but very effective. I quite liked the gliding mechanic. However, I really didn't like how I had to use my arrow keys for the movement; I feel like having a typical WASD control scheme would've been far better. Most people don't really use arrow keys for this sort of game, and I had a lot of difficulty using them over the typical WASD. Maybe if I used a controller it would've made it easier/more fun. That aside, I have no complaints; the game was fun, and it portrayed its themes very effectively!
The art was absolutely fantastic! The main character is great and lovable, and the animations are top notch. I did encounter some bugs while playing, mainly collision problems. It seems like some of the environment colliders don't match the level geometry well. However, I believe this game is overall very good!
Hello Orbyter, I played your game and from what I've it's pretty good. The art and animations for the game are amazing. I love Scarf's design and he's well animated. I also love the NPCs and found each of them to be adorable. I also love the music, and fit well with the game. Aside from some placeholder assets, and the animation on the robots glitching. The aesthetics are amazing. I also love the inclusion of the adventure log, as it helps bring the theme of the jam by providing background to some of the issues relating to climate change, and how to possibly combat them. The story itself is great, and I enjoyed seeing what the NPC's would say by interacting with them multiple times.
However, there are some issues I came across gameplay wise that I need to mention to you, as they hinder gameplay and made had to restart the game multiple times. There's a glitch I came across twice where I somehow glided or dug into through the wall, getting me trapped either in a platform or the walls of the cave. This became problematic as without an option to restart from the last checkpoint, I had to close the game and reopen it which meant having to start all over again. I attached an image of one of these instances to show what I'm talking about.
I also came across a glitch involving a broken dialogue box. After I put out the fires on Scarf's ship, I went to talk to the other NPC's. Once I got to the salamander, however, the dialogue box broke, and only Scarf dialogue picture popped up. I couldn't skip through the cutscene by pressing spacebar, or use any other inputs besides opening the adventure log. So I once again had to close the game. Below is an image to show what I'm referring to.
I enjoyed the gameplay, and the inclusion of checkpoints and extra lives are greatly appreciated. However, some of the extra lives don't apply to Scarf's health upon picking them up, and I noticed that not having full health seems to negate the effect of picking the orbs up. I also found some of the platforming segments to be a little too unforgiving, as either the finnicky controls or the hitboxes on the spikes and flames tend to make certain segments unforgiving. That being said, I still enjoyed the various abilities were fun to use, and I was able to find other means to move around the environment because of it. Seriously, getting the combination of the spray, dig, and glide is so satisfying.
Overall, I still enjoyed your game despite the hiccups. The visuals are amazing and I see a lot of potential in Orbyter. You do a great job using the themes of the jam and I can't wait to see what comes of the game. I do recommend you address the two glitches I mentioned above, as these can hinder gameplay. Aside from that, you did a great job I enjoy following Orbyter every step of the way.
I really loved this game and I think you all did an amazing job! Everything about it such as the audio, gameplay, and visuals are fantastic and it was super fun to play through.
I cannot stress HOW MUCH I LOVE YOUR ART AND VISUALS! The theme is present in the game. The mechanics are refreshing to see in a platformer -its not just your average jump and left/right. I love how you can glide in the air and jump on the walls. I'm also glad ya'll created checkpoints because the difficulty was a little hard.
I really enjoyed my playthrough of Orbyter!
The visuals of the game are incredibly strong and I found of all the npcs (as well as the main character) to be incredibly charming. I think you guys came in with a very clear vision of what you wanted to do and did a wonderful job of executing it.
The actual gameplay was quite fun! I love a platformer with wall jump/climbing as a feature and as someone who is quite terrible at these kinds of games, the inclusion of both gliding as a mechanic as well as several checkpoints was deeply appreciated. I did run into an issue where I would occasionally fall inside of platforms and get trapped inside (maybe I am being punished for being bad at platformers, whose to say?) and without the ability to restart or quit to the title, I did find myself reloading quite a bit.
But overall I had a really good time with it and I am now Scarf's No. 1 fan.
I love the art style in this game, it's so cute. I also enjoyed the overall gameplay how the character flies! I was a bit confused however how to turn around the character as sometimes they went the opposite direction. Other than that the general story and the gameplay was awesome overall!
I quite enjoyed this experience! The art was particularly charming, and I think that that especially helped when it came to the little information booklet mechanic, because it incentivizes the player to want to check it to see the new art whenever they unlock new information. I will say, though, the difficulty was a little rough. I would've loved the ability to climb up walls along with the existing mechanic of being able to slide down, and the hitboxes on the spikes and fire felt a little unforgiving
Been playing this game since it was in prototype, and what you guys added is amazing!! I love the little intro and the cut scenes! The music/sound effects are amazing! I also like how you guys choose to talk about AI as well! Great job! I had a great time playing!
The art was awesome and I really enjoyed the different levels! I was grateful for the checkpoints so I didn’t have to start all over when I died.
