if you started before the game jam starts, you wouldn’t know what theme and could potentially make the wrong game

I'm not joining the game jam, bud. I changed my mind.

You can't make a game you don't know the theme for, but you can prep. Like batman, with preptime he beats everyone. You can make input, UI, character, camera, etc controllers and other helper logic and focus on making the actual gameplay for the jam. It's completely unrealistic to do all that in 48hs AND the actual game. Tools =/= game.

So I guess that means I'm not joining the Kenney Jam 2025? See, I was going to make a parkour platformer where you have to dodge as many traps as possible, but I shelved the whole idea once I realized that this jam starts in the middle of July.

This is a themed game jam, you're meant to make a game that adheres to the theme of the jam. If you want to make 'a parkour platformer where you have to dodge as many traps as possible', you don't have to join the game jam, you can just make it in your own time! :)

😔Thanks, but no thanks. I was planning to make this game exclusively for this game jam, and I appreciate your help, but I'm not making this game in 48 hours.
