Oh, bless you. Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. I'm very glad I did the style justice and that you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for the additional feedback too. That boss crash is clearly some issue with the browser version, since it works fine in-engine, which I need to investigate - and will unfortunately stop people seeing the actual 'princess' part. We'll just have to pretend it adds to that clunky, janky NES feel for the time being!
And yeah, my music tends to be on the weird side when I make it myself instead of using stock. It certainly gets in your head if nothing else x'D

Oh, no, I never thought you said it was bad !
I was just saying I tend to make weird music for all my games, mostly because I just smash a bunch of notes together. (In this case, it was supposed to have a frog croak as a base, but usually it's just whatever comes to me)
And thanks! Well done on your placement too!
Weird music aside, let's not forget; you did this all yourself:
- The graphics
- The music and sound effects
- The code, pathing and other content needed to play this game
You did not require a team to create this game. This was all you. Frankly, I think there should be bonus points for anyone who solo devs and makes a game. That commands respect in my books, since being able to use the math AND the art sides of your brain at the same time is no easy feat.
Thanks again for your kind words. I definitely agree with that. Aside from the inconvenience of having to communicate clearly, the more team members you have, the more time you have between you, and the larger/more impressive the end result is likely to be. For that reason, I tend to give solo devs more points when I can.
Plus.. I tend to start each game jam totally from scratch, rather than use assets or recycled code (not always, but usually, including this one), which often doesn't give me much time with the actual... level design part xD
(Speaking of-- I just got a look at your game's map and..wow! Did you do all that in the jam period??)
You may also be pleased to know I located that pesky infinite loop in the boss (I must've been asleep when I wrote that in..) so hopefully it should work ok now. Just about to post an update, along with a level skip key. Thanks again for your detailed feedback on that! :)
