No rate for rate. Please.

I've seen rate for rate spamming ruin the scoring of jams in the past, and I'd like to see a fair and honest jam here.

It's alright to ask someone to play your game if you've played, rated, and gave feedback to their game. But blanket "rate for rate" callouts can really mess with ratings as people try to collect as many ratings as they can without playing/having their own game played.

If I find people posting blanket "rate for rate" posts here, they will be removed. If I find too much of that happening, the community tab will be removed entirely.

0K! I will not do that. but I worked really hard on my game Only two people played it. :(

HelperWesley can you try my game though?

Submitted

mine too pls

Jam Host (1 edit)

The voting phase runs for over a week, so if you play, rate, and leave feedback on other games in the jam, they will likely play your game too.

Not everyone you give feedback to will play your game, but some of the them will. 👍

Submitted

yea I've been trying that since rating started. I got 29 views and 7 rates. very annoying

I’m attempting to play + rate as many games as possible during the one week rating section (There’s only 400, shouldn’t be that hard, right?) So I’ll probably play it soon!

This is the right place for us -  it provides distinctive visibility  Unrated entries in GDevelop BIG Game Jam #7 - itch.io

I give feedback and rate their games. But I’m just saying that if you have time you can check out my game. I do not even spam that. Hope everyone has fun. Rating for rating sucks literally. I just say hey can you check out my game and then I do not spam that everywhere in community.

Jam Host

Yeah, that's totally fine. If you play a person's game, rate it fairly, and then leave some feedback about it, there's no problem then asking them to play your game.

It's just when people give out 5 stars to each other in order to bump up each others games..... that ruins voting. 😅

Submitted

oh. I understand it now.

Submitted

Also HelperWesley. Can you tell me what are the rules of rating or begging a rate?

Submitted

yeah can people not in the jam but having an itch.io account rate it?

Jam Host

Only people who have a game submitted, or are added to games as contributors, can vote on games in this jam.

So the general public can't vote, it's just your fellow jammers who are voting for each other.

If you want people to play your game, play other peoples games, and maybe they will play yours.

Jam Host

Jams work best when everyone plays a person's game, rates it, gives them some feedback on it, and only then do they can ask for that person to play their game.

Hope that helps. 👍

I couldn't upload the new version of my game for pc as I was busy so does it effect in anyway. My android and web version as well as gd.games version are the updated ones.

Jam Host

You only needed the web version on itch, and the version on gd.games.

So your PC version being the wrong version is not an issue.

Ok Thanks

Only slightly un-related question about the Jam, what is the “schedule” for it? As in I know the community voting segment is only for a week, but is there a specific plan after that?

For example, will there be a week for the GDevelop judges to vote?

Jam Host

After the community voting period, there will be 3 days of judge voting, and then we'll aim to release the video and results as quickly as we can after that.

That makes sense. Guess I’ll get to see who won a bit later than everyone else than, I’ll be out of contact from Jun 1st to Jun 8th.

Good luck on judging the 400+ projects!

I just played and reviewed all the browser-playable games that were created after the Jam started.

Edit: Looks like I was mistaken. The list changes from time to time.

no rate for rate from me.

Heres an interesting question, seen a few games with nothing attached or no effort put in. Is there a way for the back end to check if these are false games and giving 5 stars to their friends?

Submitted

just report those.

Submitted

Where do you do that?

Submitted

there is a report button in the right upper corner of every submission.

reported already 15 games for clear rule breaking so far.

Submitted

Thanks for that, probably the one that gets me is people clearly using ai art and not saying.

Submitted

Hey Wesley! I’m a huge fan of your videos, and I learned a lot about GDevelop from you. I was hoping you would be interested in checking out my game if you have the time. Hope you like it!

Thanks!

Sorry, I have time set aside to play a bunch of games nearing the end of the jam and afterwards, and I'll mostly be looking at the top rated community voted games.

Submitted

what would happen if there were good games in the rest of the games that you missed?

Jam Host

I will look through the screenshots and thumbnails of all of the games in the jam to try and make sure that doesn't happen, but the community voting is generally really good at bringing the best games to the top. 👍

thanks yeah I’m sure that will work thanks!  Hope you have a fun time judging games! All the best!

OH MY GOD, I FORGOT TO SEND IT TO GDGAMES.
