Animations?? Sweet.

Love MC and Canis iconic vibe lol

The emotions in this one? The animated sprites? Damn, this was some really good job over there, the messiness of the relationship was killing me. Incredible.

Developer(+1)

my ultimate goal was to have the worst friendship ever for this jam and every time someone comments on how messy the two characters are my heart grows two sizes bigger. in regards to the sprites, i’m as much of a fan and in awe as you are bc lemonink is magic with her ipad! but regardless, thank you so much for the comment!!

Oh man I fucking love a good balanced toxic dynamic! The codependency, the denial of feelings, the love, the angst. All just so so delicious. I genuinely have no idea how you managed to make this in 36 hours. The story felt really well planned out and the flashbacks made for great pacing. I really liked playing through both of the paths and really can’t choose which ending I liked best.

The art and UI was also great. An animated sprite (plus custom UI) in this timeframe is actually insane and Cypress is so pretty. I love a messy blonde <3 Just overall very impressive and great work!

Developer(+1)

WAHHH TELE THANK YOUU! i have an unhealthy love for reverse chronological order and i thought it would be so fun if the flashbacks could pace things out like that – and i just love people that are toxic to each other, and inseparable all the same. and thank you so much for taking the time to play through both endings!!

lemonink was phenomenal with the ui/ux and the animated sprites (like i still don’t know HOW she did it but she did) and i’m really happy she manifested our beautifully toxic manipulative blonde! your comment is much appreciated and loved <3

This was so fun to read!! The first ending I got I leaned into the woe is me aspect and the heel turn of horribly co-dependency rising from the narrative had me getting my popcorn out it was so delicious and satisfying to read. Both endings I got were super satisfying, building on an incredibly well structured story of these two messy characters. Also the animations! so good, even lip flaps, insanely amazing work in 36 hours.

Developer

wow, thank you so so much!! i wanted both endings to be as separate as they were connected, and although i set out to make them equally bad i do think one is less bad than the other – but i won’t say which! it makes me so happy you took the time to play out both endings, and honestly with the AMAZING animations from lemonink i probably would go through just see his mouth flap too haha. thank you again for the lovely comment!

The fact that you managed a to put together an animated GIF for your itch thumb after all the work normally involved in a 36-hour jam is a clear indication that y'all absolutely had this shit on lock, absolutely fabulous work. I would love to know how making this felt.

Developer(+3)

Ohoho well do I have just the thing for you-- [goes back to the youtube video editing mines]... Thank you! I'll admit  seeing Katherine labor away making such a rich drama really kept my engine running till that 5 AM deadline. No settling for less when you see a master at work!!

They're so messy. They're SO messy!! The narrative is so juicy. i'm obsessed. The flashbacks work so well. And the two narrative paths...ugh SO GOOD. Cyprus, I love you, I hate you, go check your privilege, it's been a pleasure.

The art is SO GOOD. The animation??? The ui?? HELLO????? All so stunning and pretty. I love the fish motifs and was delighted by the spinning ctc. The detail that went into everything from the art to the writing is astounding. You two really are the power duo. Please never stop making games together. Thank you for feeding me this delicious meal <3

Developer(+2)

Right??? RIGHT???? Subjecting Katherine to arguably the nightmare sleepover from hell was worth it if it meant I get to have a killer with a blond-haired, blue-eyed man hate/loving agenda under my name. Sorry Katherine :33

Thank you! I didn't even know ctc's were a possible thing and then when I saw them I was like "we must... have... spinning fish..." This is all going under my belt on my extended gui learning journey teehee.

Please please PLEASE let us never stop making games, I fear Katherine has raised my standards in this industry to monumental heights. The chefs send their regards ;))

The animation?? Is so good?? I loved the visuals of this, and I love the absolute ride this took me on! I had so much fun with this, and I'm a big fan of how awful both the characters are lol It made they're dynamic with each other super interesting as well!

Developer(+2)

Thank you! It was my first time doing layered images so it was rather daunting but we made it!! And literally, in a world of heroes, they are not THEM--they're both jerkfaces that I love so much and have an unhealthy obsession with >:D

Jam Host(+2)

Ohhh I love the dynamic you’ve built between Cypress and MC, and the way the narrative changed as you pieced their viewpoints together. Incredible character work all around!

Developer(+2)

Ahhh tysm!! Katherine went insane sicko mode adding that much variation in the timeframe we had. Love a good "are we friends in every universe?" "worse" moment >,0 <,

Ooooooooh the angst was niceeeeeeeeeeee ! Also incredible for having animations both on sprites and expressions this is the first time I play a game that has it implimented and I find it so creative !!!!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much!!!! lemonink 100% went all out in making the sprites as expressive and immersive as possible and i really think it paid off hehe <3 super glad to hear you enjoyed the angst as well!

Ok so like this is not at all the point but I seriously cannot get over how juicy it feels to switch between different choices. This is such a small detail, but I'm in love. This should be a standard in every game.

The visuals of this piece are fantastic all around. The attention to detail with all of the little animations and menu items is so impressive to me. The theme incorporation felt deliciously different as well.

The drama throughout the entire ending sequence... I was not prepared! Incredible stuff.

Developer(+2)

OMGGGG TY <3 super happy to hear the variations in narrative are being appreciated hehe i always love choices that carry enough weight behind them so that you feel like you’re playing a visual novel, not a kinetic novel. lemonink completely carried the visuals as i’ve never touched an art app in my life, and i was honestly so stunned she figured out how to animate the sprites and make him talk…witchcraft….

and so glad the theme incorporation came across! the 9 hours late thing scared me so bad i thought we’d totally crash and burn on that front LOL. and the ending sequences were my fav to write – even more happy they came across the way they did!

the friends to enemies dynamic is so palpable . amazing WORK!!!

Developer(+2)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i’m a big fan of enemies to lovers but i can’t deny it’s so fun to write about the dissolution of a friendship… or were they truly friends to begin with? hmmmm….

ON GOD the ambiguity of it ALL!!!!!!!!
