It needed a few launches to get going, but then worked pretty well for me. I like the speedy movements and the way I need to be precise with the crank. "Attention focus aim flush" ahahahaa! I fell down to the bottom at one point and couldn't work out how to get up again. But later I made it to the cat!

super good physics! the itsy bitsy card is really funny to me. the shooting controls feel very responsive, and i like the addition of being able to move laterally with the D-pad — really helps to line up a shot better compared to something like "getting over it" where you're relying purely on the main Physics Thing™ to perform any travel. unfortunately i did run into some pretty major issues in play like others — i had paused the game, and after that the game screen didn't seen to wanna update during play at all, even across multiple launches. would love to see this patched in a post-jam version so i can see what lies on the moon!
tried 5 more times to boot on device, and the 5th time it worked! an excellent GOI-like on playdate! (i just made up this genre, afaik)
Getting Over It got its hooks in me bigtime, so this one feels great on our beloved one-bit slab. as i mentioned in my first comment, i'm eager to see a post-jam version with some of the kinks worked out. I got stuck under the buildings at the start of the game cuz i shot the snail way over to the right-most extreme of the area and did a lil no-clip through the floor, which meant I had to reboot the game cuz there was nothing to propel off of down there
The game occasionally freezes on start, and opening the menu really does break the game and require a restart (implementation details involving timing and physics, I guess?) I couldn't progress very far with my badly timed jumps but it's definitely something I would like to watch someone else play :)
I was playing on "hard mode" for a while (didn't realize you were allowed to move left and right for some reason haha), but after figuring that out I'm having a lot of fun! The random objects/photos make it really interesting to see what will come next on the climb. I'm currently stuck in the "Perfect Man" area, not sure how you're supposed to make the big jump to the next area above - if anyone has any tips, let me know!
Omg I'm sorry to hear you were playing on hard mode!! If only I got that title screen in the game before the jam ended, ahh..
I'm glad you're having fun and enjoying the collage of trash that I turned into a level! It made me so happy to see a section referred to as "the Perfect Man area." That jump is the start of what I would consider to be the final challenge of the game as the difficulty ramps up significantly.
My tip for you is this: Try launching from a corner. Corners allow you to get a good mix of horizontal and vertical speed from the blast. Good luck!
After I managed to get this working, I keep booting it up to try to reach the moon! I've gotten so close -- that orb is in sight! Well worth getting it running. Big fan of "Focus Aim Flush", "The Perfect Man!", and of course the cat!
I had fun with this - good movement and the collisions work really well for something with such an oddly shaped environment put together in a weekend.
I did have similar issues to sub-rosa when it came to running the game, though. The crank being docked/undocked at boot didn't seem to make much difference - the odd thing is that the same did seem to be running, but the display was not getting updated. I say this because if I hit the home key to quit out then the game would suddenly refresh the display (so I could fire an explosion, wait a couple of seconds, hit the Home button, and the player character had moved).
Not sure if that is useful information or not. Honestly not sure what would cause it to randomly get into that state or otherwise just run perfectly normally - I'd go off and play a couple of the other Jam games, come back to it, and suddenly it was behaving itself normally.
Thank you for the feedback, glad you had fun!
The screen freezing was the main reason I had to submit this game late, and I observed the same behavior you described with the home menu. I thought when I added a title screen I completely broke the game because it suddenly seemed to be happening consistently.. but I was going nuts trying to figure out what changed that could be causing it, commenting out changes and rebuilding one by one and getting results that didn't seem to make any sense - at one point I was convinced that uncommenting a single random log statement that wasn't even running fixed the issue, lol.. I'm now starting to think it was just an intermittent issue the whole time or at least for a while caused by some other variable I haven't determined.
I really liked this game! Haven't played Only Up or games like it so this was an introduction to the genre for me. Pretty tough!
One issue I did seem to run into is that if I launched all the way to the right edge of the screen at a fast speed, I fell through obstacles all the way to the bottom and got stuck there. That didn't happen too often, though!
Sadly, I can't get the game to run. The snail either gets stuck while falling down into the level, or lands but the game then freezes when I try to move or do anything.
