Wow so many cool things, starting with the animation in the launcher before I've even launched it :) I did an X10 and this really made me laugh :) The music is cool. The sound effect on getting an "X" is very satisfying. My aging knees appreciate the 1/6 gravity.  I appreciate the sky with the stars - I feel oriented. The craters seemed to go in the opposite direction that I expected at times? And are the features we encounter random? I ask because in my first game, I seemed to run in to a ton of small craters, and they kept tripping me up... in a later game, the moon seemed practically empty. Great stuff though!

Love the 3d look, and a good use of the crank!  I did find it a bit disorienting having the camera spin around when doing tricks, but cranking as fast as I could after hitting a meteor was very fun and satisfying.  I want more tricks though! Maybe bound to the d-pad?  Either way, for 72 hours this is an impressive result.

thank you!! great news: there are more tricks! try tapping or holding various D-pad directions as you spin the crank :)
i've definitely heard a couple complaints about the camera spinning — for this new version i can try adding a mode that disables it! then i'd need to spin the player ... hahah

Really terrific looking 3D effect, and the game runs so smoothly with it as well! I think it would overload my brain trying to get something like this working in a month, let alone a weekend!

Developer

thank you! i really am so stunned i managed to get it working this fast — tengu and freds and especially 2Darray were super duper tremendous helps in figuring out all the wicked stuff that went into calculating perspective and position of objects on a 3D plane. if i didn't have them i would have been ultra-screwed LOL

The style is jammin and I had more fun crankin than I anticipated. I do think the gameplay could benefit from a trick wipeout mechanic to add risk to going for tricks, but even as is it's still oddly very satisfying. Really well done!

Developer(+1)

oooh yea that would be a super good thing to add! maybe a brief "cooldown" between tricks as you perform them, and if you land too close to one then you wipe out for a brief moment. that would be a fun add for sure. glad you enjoyed it!

I love to see a 3d game from this studio! Exploring the surface for crater ramps is a nifty twist on the skating genre. LunaTrix, as with all stuffbyrae content, is brimming with personality.

The game needs some balancing with respect to item and crater generation, but there’s huge potential here and I’m excited to see where this goes after the jam

Developer

absolutely, the crater/object placement is genuine random generation right now and i'm not quite happy with its output in hindsight; i'll definitely look into something a bit more involved for a future version

Thanks for including the manual! I found it was really helpful. There's definitely a lot of spinning in place for me in this game, and I wish it showed my score, but the style is killer! Also, I love that you used some of the same SFX you used in RowBot Rally. I'd love to see what you would do if you revisit this!

Developer

thank you for your kind words! yea i am pretty bummed that the save data turned out not to work — i think i got a bit overzealous juggling data between different scenes, and something just got lost along the way. if i have the opportunity to come back to this i'll definitely patch that up!

Soundtrack and art are awesome!  I was cranking like crazy

Developer

thank you! glad you enjoyed it ❤️

Really fun arcade skateboarder with A+ art and a pumpin soundtrack!

Took me a few runs to discover that spinning the crank mid-air does tricks, but once I figured that out the game quickly became pretty addictive. Would love to see this idea fleshed out with future updates!

i'll write up a manual or something in a little bit — in short, spin the crank and fiddle with the D-pad to do good tricks!!
