This is intentional, the day will try to not go above day 49 until the game gets an update raising this number.

Unlike the 0.8.2 version where its, lets say, more "docile", in 0.8.1 if you click on any PFP it start a chainspam that goes on forever until you re-enter the save file (i heard it can also crash your game)
Have you entered the main room at all after this happens? There is a constant meta paranoia causing event on day 5 that won't stop until you do so.
If you are in 0.8.2, you can also type "debug events" into the console to check for all currently active entities/events to see what could be causing it so that you can report it, followed by "debug scrape" to try to get rid of them. This is meant to exclusively as a last resort for when something bugs out and there truly isn't any way to get rid of the meta paranoia. Stuff can break if you scrape events.
Guess I'm loading up on more molotovs lol. One thing that did bug out was the location; it spawned in one of the cliffs where Kerfur couldn't reach, so it just wheeled madly back and forth against the foot of the cliff and no amount of putting it on top helped. I ended up dragging it back to base and shoving it in a locker.
