Great work! and especially considering you joined late, wow, well-done working quickly! The slap sound and flashing animation were really satisfying, and the particle effects for the "bug-guts" were a really nice touch. If I were to ask for an improvement, it would probably be to add a more long-term goal... Is it a race against the clock? How many kills can you score in 2 minutes? Speedrun to 100-body count? Add health and a survival system? Something like that... All in all nicely done! I got a good laugh out of the "jump scare" fly!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for taking the time to give some ideas for improvements. I am definitely going to look into some of these cos you are absolutely right about the improvement they would makes.

I am totally planning on putting an electric swat in there too.

Submitted(+1)

Haha, having an upgrade to an electric swatter is a great idea! Nice one!

Good job on addressing the theme! Hits a little too close to home for me where there are flies everywhere during summer XD

Developer(+1)

I know the feeling, its just getting hot in NZ and flies have started invading my house too. I guess I should thanks them for the inspiration.

Funny, creative, interesting, can’t help but give 5 stars lol

thank you very much, Merry Christmas 🎅

you too, my guy

the game is great and I'm surprised its made in Gdevelop (the engine I used when I was young) a really great concept I don't usually talk about art styles so I'll leave that to someone else to talk about personally I found it to be "okay" , the mechanics feel kinda slow and when I hit the edge of the map the mouse slows down on its own for few seconds (is it intentional?) other than that I liked your game well done!

Developer(+1)

I will admit the screen movement didn’t quite get where I wanted ( I don’t intend so much frame in shot). I did want a delay between hits but some of the times it hits edge is due to the fact I couldn’t figure other ways to keep the cursor in bounds.

I wanted to add a few bits more but only managed to implement what I thought was the core (like the jump scare lol).

It’s cool you used to use Gdevelop for me it works good as I think I would need to use bolt or other visual systems in the likes of unity.

Do you have any of your Gdevelop games here? It really seems to work well for me and I know I have a lot to learn.

Submitted

well , its okay we all do mistakes with the camera and map design sometimes I gave you a good rating regardless , I don't have any of my Gdevelop games here sadly I deleted Gdevelop a long time ago and moved to another engine for extra features , and it worked well for me very well back then :D

Developer(+1)

thanks for taking the time for feedback and discussion, each jam I have done I learn little thing I can implement in other projects down the track. Hopefully I can figure the camera out more in my next couple 😀

I mentioned in one of my other reply’s what happened when I let the fly breed to much higher numbers 😅 learning curve right there lol.

Submitted(+1)

lets hope someone learns the way of smacking flies to reach that fly variant , I just can't stand fly sounds so I'm not the chosen one for this!

Developer(+1)

If there’s one thing I love it’s Easter eggs so no matter how simple the game i always try to add something. I also like randomness so most games I do I add a hefty spoonful if I can.

Nice chatting

Merry Christmas 🎅

The game fits the theme very well, although it is a bit repetitive and simple but, I really like it, good job!

Developer

Thank you :)

oh man, filled me with nostalgia for the fly swatter game in Mario Paint that I had completely forgotten about. Slapping those flies was satisfying!

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind feedback, I will be getting round to checking out your entry shortly.

My favorite part was when the angry bug showed up XD Fun game but I wish there was some way to die or win. I did kill over 240 of the bugs though lol

Developer

Good effort, did you see the extra scary surprise??

Submitted(+1)

AHHHHHH i hate this song, but funny game

great job !

Developer

I can’t really do music well (yet) so tried to find something less annoying that could fill the background. Still I had the commonsense to only put the buzzing on the title screen 😜 now that is annoying lol

Submitted(+1)

Fun little game that fit the theme pretty well. I would have loved it if there was some extra points or something for hitting more than one fly at a time. Nice job though!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I wanted to do multiplier too 😀 and maybe some bonus for speed clearing.

Worth revisiting and implementing once ratings over.

Nice job on this! Super simple but follows the theme really well. Also you had a mini jump scare in there lol

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I am glad you enjoyed the jump scare, I don’t know if you played long enough but there is a rare and super rare variant on it 😆

I should probably share for us game makers, my first build grinded to a halt as all the body parts stayed and had a 250 on screen fly max. I ended up fading out body parts and then deleting to save memory and I also adjusted max fly by half.

Submitted(+1)

ah no I didn’t get to see that! And I gotcha! Cool to know!
