Feedback Time:
I think you did a great job, especially with time management and creativity. You created something with a lot of personality! Considering your age and the time constraints, this is truly impressive. Just like your other games, this is a remarkable achievement
✅ What Worked Well
Charming visuals – The characters are super charismatic and have a unique style. The art gives off a light and fun vibe.
Great variety of sea creatures – Exploring the underwater world and finding so many different fish was a nice surprise.
Mysterious soundtrack – The music really helps set the underwater mood and adds to the immersion.
Varied mechanics – Upgrades, photography, resource collection, bait usage... all these systems made the game feel more sophisticated and layered.
🛠️ Ideas for Improvement
In-game control guide – It would be great to have a button that shows the controls within the game itself, so players don’t have to remember everything from outside instructions.
ESC to exit menus – This is a common convention and really helps with navigation.
Simplify the controls – Using arrow keys as an option is okay, but it adds too much info to the help screen and can confuse players. Maybe stick with WASD only. The photo menu could be opened with ESC if possible.
Visual feedback for actions – When taking a photo, a splash or some kind of effect on the animal would help show that it worked.
Danger alerts! – If the player is dying and doesn’t notice the meter, a visual or sound warning would really help.
More informative HUD – Showing how many metal scraps the player has would make it easier to understand progression.
Lower the difficulty a bit – Balancing difficulty is always tricky, but in general, it's better to be a bit too easy than too hard—especially when there’s not much time for playtesting!
I love the overall atmosphere :) great job
For soem reason I was unable to move after the cutscenes. I am using firefox if that matters.
I was really excited to play this one as I really like diving games, and the photography element makes em think of Endless Ocean, a game i always wanted to play as a kid.
I don't have Firefox, so I can't test if it works there, I can only test for Chrome and Opera, unfortunately. Try clicking ON the game window, that may be the reason it's not working.
The pixelated graphics look cool, however the controls are unclear and getting to the upgrade station is a pain in the a$$. As a real diver I find it weird how you have no diving tools like knifes or flashlights. Overall a good game but it could be a lot better
A knife or a flashlight would be annoying to code in, and I didn't have that much time.
The visuals are great and I like how many different things there were to discover. The movement didn't feel the best, was hard to turn the other direction once momentum was built. I was a fan of the camera mechanic as found it enjoyable to discover new creatures to add the the photography collection.
Overall, I would recommend working on the gameplay loop and controls to really make this shine.
Thanks for the feedback! What do you mean by "control inputs", though?
When I say control inputs, I'm referring to the controls for Turning On Camera, Baiting, Opening Photo Menu, and Skip Tape. Having some indication for opening or using those during gameplay would be nice. To be honest, it is a minute thing, but I wanted to include as many suggestions as I could.
I'm pretty sure the baiting thing is subtly mentioned in the tapes. But I'll see what I can do with it.
i loved the visuals to be honest mostly the jellyfish they look like food i would eat or candy, but for some reason i hated the music i think bc it looped but the song choice is great, the player is a bit slow and janky also theres so much bugs in the movement or i am not well at slow movement but the most thing i didn't like much was exiting the water i loved the game i do think you could win if i didn't /j
Thanks! You're right, the character is a bit slow, and I'll fix that post-jam. The thing with entering and leaving the water I dunno how to fix.
I found the visuals quite charming. I also found that the music and training videos helped set the atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the creature design which was evidentally the focus of this game. As for an area to focus on, I would recommend investing more time in the player controller as I found it to be somewhat janky particularly when entering or exiting the water. I find the premise of the game interesting and appealing as well
Thank you! I'm not very talented as a game dev, and I really have only done swimming ONE time before this. So I couldn't fix this bug in time.
I'll try to fix that in a post-jam update or something.
I really like the audio you used for this game! Really captures the deep sea feeling. And I also like how the tutorial was laid out as these tapes, felt very old school and gritty in a good way.
Thank you so much! I'm glad people are liking the cutscenes.
I really liked the visual and the game, but i don’t know if this game really fit on the theme, but great work making this game on Construct3!
Thanks! I decided to incorporate the theme through an oxygen system, The Crab, and predators on the ocean.
