Good game, could use some more variety in enemies and maybe some abilities to spice things up.

might be the itch.io but it was laggy and I had some hard times with moving farther than I was supposed to, i didn't find any enemys for some reason , the platform mechinc looks and feels good but id say it's weird bc you're wizard not a builder maybe a builder with a gun could work better for the art case , for some reason i didn't like the audio

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry you had some bugs - I heard from a friend he also had some issues from his browser? I'll have to learn how to more properly test them, this was my first build so I am not sure how to check my game for bugs in different browsers/platforms quite yet.

Also yes the theming definitely clashed a bit. I started with a theme in mind for a "Technopath who could could create his own platforms of metal using his mind" but I am not at the place where I can make my own assets so the best asset I found was the Hooded Protagonist which clashed with my theme... But its something to improve on next time!

Thanks for the feedback :)

  1. Pros
    1. Very simple yet difficult gameplay loop, I loved the incorporation of having to create platforms to progress.
    2. Audio fit well.
  2. Cons
    1. It might just be my browser, but it felt like it was laggy and I had some hard times with moving farther than I was supposed to.

Overall, I really liked it.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry you had some issues with lagging :/ I heard a few people mention this so I will make sure to keep performance and optimization in mind for my next build. Do you have any resources or tips for that?

Thanks again for the feedback!

No need to apologize haha, none of us are AAA studios, so problems can occur. Sadly, I have know way of providing any metrics or ways to confirm my suspicions, nor do I understand how the movement controls work, so there is nothing I can provide to help. Wish I could do more, regardless it was still a well built game.

Thanks for the help regardless! I'll keep working on performance in the future! Thanks!

Very enjoyable game and fits the theme well. Survived for 100 seconds, level 6 at a height of 2913. I loved the challenge of dealing with the chase of the lava whilst dealing with the bots at the same time. In terms of suggestions; may be cool to have areas at each 5th level where the lava pauses and you can choose an upgrade.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I think that's a great suggestion. There were so many things I wanted to add but ran out of time.. I wanted to do some obstacles spawning on the map, multiple enemies, and even lava spouts beneath the player to try to dodge - but alas - I ran out of time. Didn't cross my mind to have some upgrades or pauses though, that's a great idea! Thanks for the feedback!

Nice game! I only had a couple of issues with the controls. It feels a little unatural (at least for me) to move with A/D (you also wrote that we muve with W/D) but jump with Space. I think it would be nice to give the option to jump with W since it's not used for anything else. Also, it would have been nice to be able to place platforms onyl using a clik instead of pressing shift, again, since we don't use the other click for anything.

Developer

Thanks! I didn't even notice that typo! I'll work on getting that fixed when I have some time hopefully. I also tried working on a feature to place platforms with the right click - but I wasn't sure how I wanted to implement it... The reason I did shift was initially there was a lot more UI when holding shift to help with placing platforms and such, but I ran out of time to implement that so I just stuck with that control scheme. Definitely a lot could be improved on but thanks for the feedback! I really truly appreciate it.

Oooh I see. That makes sense about pressing the shift. I'm not sure what game engine you are using but you could look at trying to show the UI while the right click is pressed and place it when is released or could give you atime to click on the UI element to place it and if not clicked it just disappears.

But yeah, really cool game!

Thanks! Yeah I used Godot (I absolutely love it) so I'm gonna keep toying with ideas like this :) thanks!
