A smoke without fire is probably quite lonely. Explosions will help ... maybe?

Thanks :) it's my first jam win ever 🥳

Soft locked myself a few levels in, but it was really great for the time frame (even if you went over a little).

This is a great game. Nice animation principles. I love that the smoke pushes you up! Its a great game overall. So complete with the bombs pushing you around. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That makes my day :)

Great mechanics.  I love using the bomb to move you around.  The simple graphics and anims were beautiful!  Overall, great game for just under 4 hrs.

Developer

Thank you :) I made bombs because everyone likes bombs :D

Ha ha!  Just like everyone loves screen shake.

Developer

Hm I wonder if it's sarcasm or not... Everyone should love screen shake at least, because it's important for game feel, but it's true that it's difficult to make it non-disturbing.

Sorry, I do like screen shake.  And, I had not thought about it being annoying.  When I have experienced it, it always adds a level of polish.  So, I love your bombs, too.  Bombs are always fun.

Awesome - jumping with the explosions feels great and bringing smoke to the fire fits the theme well!

Visuals and audio are great too and the story is cute :)

Minor point: Jumping without the explosion feels kinda weird sometimes. Can't figure out how high I can jump, sometimes I jumped on the wall...Didn't really matter - just something I noticed.

Really enjoyable game overall!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wonder what could be wrong with the jumping 🤔 But I myself didn't notice anything, so it's not a big deal probably. Thank you for such thorough and positive feedback!

I'm still thinking about it... You said the floating is wrong there - you mean it should fall faster? I agree with that.

Submitted(+1)

In the level where the restart button is introduced you can barely make the jump by using the floating mechanic which is cool. But I didn't find out about the floating in that level or the one before (you don't have to, to solve the level) . I thought I got up (after many tries) because I pushed the jump button harder. At that time I didn't know about the floating and because the wall isn't flat the floating would make you "wall-jump" sometimes.

TL;DR Jumping while floating against a wall was what felt a little weird I guess.

Developer(+1)

Sooo I should have explained that being inside smoke makes you float and that would make it, right? (And just for sure make the wall in THAT level right vertical.)

Should be enough yes :) I did the same thing in the last trijam. There was a new mechanic introduced in the level before you were required to use it but it was possible to just ignore it resulting in not learning how to use it afterwards. Silly players always ignoring content :(

Developer(+1)

Okay :) We have to take care of the silly players x) Thanks for discussing this with me.
