It's a really cool take on the TD genre! The forking mechanic to sort the fairies is genius. I also really enjoyed the writing.
The others below already pointed it out, there's a number of bugs and need to improve the quality of life features. The main gripes I have: the "redirecting zones" are too big. I think what would allow much needed tighter control over the forking mechanic is a way thinner redirecting zone, or even making it a line. That way if a fairy passes it, there's no ambiguous turning back and most of all no trying to separate stacked fairies.
Also I found that it's due to the arrow signs that fairies just hug walls (maybe?)? I show it in the video I made below (which is a showcase of this Jam's games)

cool jamming i likey bloons
waves seem to take quite a while to show up, upwards of like 3 minutes. no idea if they are gettin stuck on collision or what so i wasnt able to play every stage but still cool. big art is very nice and hud is pretty visible and helpful
uhh the 5 cost towers can miss a lot since the bullets they shoot are slower than the fairies thats it bye
While it feels a bit unpolished (UI is clunky, waves often seemingly failed to start, and I could trap enemies to death at the front by constantly changing directions), there's still plenty I liked here. Portraits are very pretty, music is good, dialogue is fun, and I like the concept of a tower defence game with directable lanes. Tower designs are neat too.
I think the fairy designs are cute and I like the portrait art
I do like a good tower defense game. Is this good? Well, it's interesting and almost playable, so it could have been good.
The first two points are the biggest issues, and makes the game hard to even play. To fix the second issue, the fairies might have needed a few extra states to prevent them from taking directions from the same sign twice; that's how I would have solved it, at least.
Thank you for the criticism. I had little time to actually balance the waves and to properly test the game, so yeah, sometimes the game bugs out hard. As for the movement, there's basically an invisible wall, which they just build a path around. To be perfectly honest, I am thinking, that I either should've just make it visible to the player, so they would have a better idea of what's going on, or make it tighter, so fairies won't return even after moving into the path this much.
As for the towers upgrading, you are right, I forgot to add the code to substract money.
