Koishi therapy has a 100% success rate. A different survival rate tho I bet

Short and cute! I don't see Koishi and Sanae explored very much, so it was fun to see them hanging out. Also enjoyed the placeholder portraits of all time

This might be my favorite fenny game to date. You've put your typical quirkiness to good use here, and it all ends up feeling natural rather than weird. A+ concept.

It's a shame about the placeholder art. It could have been a 5/5 game jam kinetic novel that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

For having run out of time, I do still enjoy what was there, especially the snake and frog for the Moriya gods. I hope there'll be an option to keep those in with whatever art update this gets in the future 🐍🐸

Also dig the title jumpscare; it seems incredibly fitting for a Koishi game. Oh, and I feel like you could have easily had a menu theme if you had just taken that track that was in the music room and set it to play there instead. It bops adequately enough.

the music in the test music room and title zoom in effect was originally made for a prior jam game i was really only using it as a placeholder https://magicalfeyfenny.itch.io/youmu-shoots-a-strange-bird

As always, Fenny, your creativity and earnestness shines through in this little project.

There's something about the combination of the art and the prose which lends a feeling of comfort and familiarity while also navigating through some subjects which can be a bit dark which jsut completely draws me in. The concept of couple's therapy for various Gensokyan denizens is a fantastic one and I really wanted to see where it would go. There's great potential here, so it's a shame we couldn't get a full version in time. I'll most certainly be interested in any more updates you might have.

I've had the opportunity to go through the post-Jam version of the game and now that it's completely finished, I'm glad you were able to accomplish what you wanted to do with the story. (And I am happy that the placeholder sprites ended up being ported over. They're just cute lil gals!)

It's such a shame you couldn't finish it, I really liked the premise! Your prose is also very pleasant to read, I especially liked the two sisters' introduction. And I could see that you made an effort to hand-draw everything, from characters to backgrounds! I would gladly play through the game once it's finished!

I like the concept! It’s unfortunate that the first session didn’t work out for Koishi. Leaving her there after she prepared everything makes me feel bad, haha. Kanako’s and Suwako’s portraits were funny and they fit well, honestly. Plus simply Sanae and her two moms is always great. I really liked the intro and the mood it set, especially with what it had to say about Satori. I hope Koishi gets to help out her sister later on. I shall look forward to the rest.

The concept of Family Therapy for the Moriya's is pretty genius. Makes perfect sense. I had a fun time reading, but I think the non-text box dialogue needs to contrast a bit more with the background. Maybe add a drop shadow or outline to the text?

This story's really interesting, and I'm excited to see where you go from here. The way the story is written feels like a fairy tale, and I really like that about it. Also, do you plan on having multiple "cases", or just the Moriya Shrine crew storyline? I think having several storylines for this idea would be cool.

I like the background and portraits, including the ones for Kanako and Suwako. To be totally honest, if you do a full-game version of this I'd prefer if Kanako and Suwako looked like that, just more detailed. The fact that these characters are literally portrayed as the animals they're themed around is really cute, and adds to the whimsical fable vibe.

Like MedalHunter said, it just sorta ends without anything getting resolved. Kinda sad, but I'll be there for the continuation if it ever comes out.

A large part of what I've been doing over the course of the jam is finishing work on a general gamemaker VN engine (and even in this demo i'm still missing a decent-looking menu transition, displaying CGs, a CG gallery, a way to automate the external file scripting, and a way to structure character actions and scene transitions so they can be scripted)

I had originally planned on a story involving Sakuya running a job agency and 3 cases (one with Cirno and Daiyousei arguing about something silly, one with Mokou and Kaguya being extremely competitive, and then a completely different Moriya shrine story involving the gods doting on Sanae too much, but realized how much work that many portraits would be, so i tried to pare down the story to focus on a more limited selection of characters. i arrived at something that was a lot more focused, but because of my work schedule i could only really put major work in on the weekends and ended up only doing a couple character portraits and backgrounds, couldn't do any music or sounds, and only got half the story down.

I'm actively writing the script for the second half of the story at this point. I plan to have an update out in the next few days that'll at least have the full story (though still will probably have no music and  placeholder art for the Moriya gods and another group). At that point I'll probably consider it "complete" in the post-jam revision sense, but I may work on it further to try to release a polished version of it if people like the full story once it's done.

This is such a fun concept (couple's therapy for dysfunctional gods?? YEAH) and I really like all the effort put in so far! I hope this gets finished so I can really appreciate it. I think later on there should be an option to turn off the text sound? The portraits were really cute: Suwako and Kanako were probably placeholders but I love them LOL

Decent VN demo for this Jam.

I like the effort put into the portraits (and Kanako and Suwako's very aaaaa portraits too).

The writing's pretty good too, both the mystic-like intro, and the standard but lively dialog parts!
I think the end of this demo ends the game on a weak note though. No cliffhanger, no hint at what's Koishi or the rest are concretely going to do, no real end note.
In other words: The Moriya family just walks away, Koishi's intervention fails(?), and there's no real resolution (positive or negative) to this - which is why I feel it's a bit weak.
I understand there wasn't time for everything, but surely making this a chapter with its end would give it a nice aftertaste.

I wanna see the game when it's complete, I think the concept's pretty solid and I like how it looks.
