This is such a addictive little puzzler. I really like the flow to it. The art is adorable and the story made me smile. But easily my favorite part is the music, holy shit these are some BANGERS. Definitely my favorite music from the jam that I have heard.  And I would like to add them to my personal playlist haha. Helps i am a huge knuckles chaotix ost fan, the vibe is captured so well. Great job all around team!

Damn I felt identified, I could eat that much chocolate too.

Never got to be the best, I was close, but only unlocked the last song and I gave up, still, this game has potential to have multiple levels, more stuff and a story that follows them, art and sprites are cute and wombo combos are a good excuse to have a good time playing this, thanks a lot.

That music. SO good. I love FM.

I agree with Kiroko, this looks like a game that someone would take the time to master long after the jam. I can already imagine expanding on the concept with other genre staples like unmatchable blocks, power-ups, or a challenge mode (find the best match?). Thinking of Bejeweled 2 here, haha.

The sound when you match a lot of chocolates at once startled me at first, hahah

Anyway, I had fun!

I'm far from a puzzle gamer but I simply really liked this take on the Match 3 subgenre. All the other aspects of the game are amazing, especially the bops. (I still don't have them all unlocked because flat brain)

This is a very fun game!  It's different than most matching games I've played, and the uniqueness makes it more fun. The story is quite short, but it's sweet (and I love the "talking" it reminds me of Animal Crossing XD).  The controls are kind of difficult to get used to, and I noticed that pressing escape quits the game without warning, which caught me off guard. Other than that, it's a fun experience and the art and music are great! Mega's score is certainly incentive to continue practicing...

i read the tutorial i start the game i must read the tutorial again. you trick me

also why not just have the arrow keys and wasd perpetually usable regardless of hand orientation

truthfully i don't know very much about this sort of game and how to set things up well. catch me dead getting an actual tetris in tetris

so i didn't make it very far. final score 25300. controls are probably pretty clean when you get used to em or play with a tablet or something

neat lil candy crush em up

essentially allowing both at once could’ve allowed for double speed inputs and possible mis-inputs.

that would be quite the feat to reach over the keyboard and double your input speed while keeping one hand on mouse. i think any guy crazy enough to optimize to that point deserves it, even

An interesting take of the match formula which appears to turn the usual gameplay of a match game on it's head by disincentivizing combos, easy to explain, but hard to master. I can see someone getting really into this game and continue playing it after the jam period ends. I must admit, while discovering multiple techniques exclusive to how scoring works in this game I never got to a point of mastery before writing this review. (still havent beat megapigs score)

I appreciate how you noticed the downplaying of combos! I found that the system worked best for making crazy matches from individual control, and that combos added too much randomness to the game.

Simple little matching game, à la Mean Bean Machine. I like the way you move the chocolates.

I'm really bad at Match 3 games so I couldn't even get to 30,000 points. As far as I know, the only thing that changes is the songs. The songs themselves are awesome, but I do wish the background colors changed for each song, or something in that nature. Might be pretty cool if the later songs added another chocolate color.

Very minor thing here-- I think the "How to Play" screen doesn't need to appear when you first start playing the game, considering it's already in the main menu.

In short, 'twas rather barebones, yet enjoyable for what it was.

Most chocolate doesn't go on sale after Valentine's Day here :pensivesaki:

Like a lot of folks here I grew up playing Match 3 games like Bejeweled, so playing them now always feels like a nostalgia trip. I suppose the bias is there. The "match high instead of combo" rule of the game made me take a slightly different and slower approach but I think it's pretty clever. It's hard to explain, but it feels a tidbit more satisfying to get multiple high matches in one move instead of watching combos trickle down through falling waves?

Even though the only unlockables in the game are songs, I don't mind since all the songs are very good (dunno about the final boss one tho, since I can't unlock it yet...). If I would suggest, maybe having small intermission cutscenes inbetween song could spice up the story more?
