Which Theme did you choose?

Lady of the Lake

How did you implement your chosen Theme into your game?
To the left of the map is a lake that is haunted by a ghostly figure. She has command over the shadows and will call them to strike on you if you venture too close.

Notes from gameplay:

- Interesting main menu, font looks handwritten, leans into the blocky art style. Creepy animation of the monster in the background! Ominous music

- Good use of handwritten font to pair with handdrawn art in intro section. I'd prefer if I could advance past this at my own pace, to ensure I have read everything

- When game loads, there is flickering shadow on left side of screen (it's the monster attacking me, I guess, just from out of frame)

- Nice use of pixels to represent light animation. Tricky to tell if lights are still "on" when I'm within their safety zone. Some sort of visual indicator to let me know I'm "safe" would be nice here

- Game over noises are cool

- Fun concept, although I think some of the pieces to collect are spawning within terrain, the first green thing I went for was inside a wall, which confused me about the concept and how the map worked. Edit: the green color is bleeding through walls, which makes it confusing for navigation

- Map battery drains a bit too fast given how big the map is. When battery is at zero, the map is still displaying, leading to confusion as it's unclear that it's not updating anymore. Needed to replay to learn the map before I could beat it.

- Map radius should be larger than the player's visual radius. I can see the green glow before items appear on the map, so minimap isn't really doing much.

- Map should help navigate me towards my car once all pieces are collected, since all the cars kinda look the same

- Would be nice if safe zones were shown on map

- Good use of audio cues to let me know the light has been destroyed!

- Excellent spacing of safe zones

- Nice "You escaped" screen, pretty music + animation

- Would like music during gameplay. Nice use of ambient sounds.

Great concept! This could totally be expanded out into a larger game by adding in multiple levels, updated graphics, random spawns, etc. You did a wonderful job of creating a solid gameplay loop with an excellent balance of challenge. Awesome work!

Really good monster encounter good speed, scale and animation cycle and the screen jump was impactful(Another half second screen time maybe).

The opening tutorial and controls presentation are very well done.

The graphical style was a little bit to grainy for my eyes though especially around the high intensity lights near the pumpkin.  And having to find three things from the start kinda makes me sigh.

enjoyed the play through.

Slender type game but I liked the map addition! Was good to help but not a outright spoiler thanks to its battery life :)  Nice idea!

Atmosphere was pretty interesting - a bit like the Blair Witch Project. Nice job!
