Hello folks! 15 days left in The Maple Jam!! How are folks feeling about their projects?

I'm really happy with the card set I did! I do kind of wish I had done something a bit more substantial or different, but I had a great time working on the cards, and I think it was a much needed break

Writing is 80% done, starting the layout this week. I won’t get to playtest it this month so it’ll be a test version but I am happy with it so far. Did the cover this morning.

Ooooh I'm so excited!!!!

I finally made time to do the research at my local museum! I knew I wanted to do something super-local, but I've been out of the country or otherwise tied up.

The museum is dedicated to the construction of the Ottawa canal, and the early history of Ottawa as a logging camp that turned into a site of military importance (and eventually, the capital). Among the many plaques and artifacts was a story about Mother Firth, who ran a tavern that was one of the first buildings in the area. The more I looked into it, the messier (and more exciting) the story got -- a corrupt landowners, a trial, and an elaborate re-routing of Ottawa's famous canal to avoid the plot of land altogether.

The bad news is that all this exciting history means I have more research to do... without even being sure what the game will look like yet! I have ideas bubbling, but we'll see what I can cobble together before the deadline.

Can't wait to read your Reboot-inspired piece btw, Mint!

Hahaha the project has ballooned and I'm skeptical if it'll be done in time. That being said, it ballooned in a way to make for a deeper and more interesting game, but also requires much more research. So I hope to keep chipping at it for awhile.

small ideas turning into something larger can be sooooo tantalizing!
