Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
To me, generosity isn't just about giving material objects, but more abstract things like your time and effort.
So in my game I added opposing mechanics. The player is scored on how long it takes them to make it to the end and how many coins they collected on the way. On the path to the end are bears in need. Helping them may just brighten your day. But it will cost you your score.

Pretty nice concept!

Similar to others, I really like the core mechanic you have with grappling and grabbing items, I think it works very well in the game! I liked getting to use it to explore around and interact with the map. Of course it can be improved upon, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I do with there was more music throughout the game and that the visuals were a bit more cohesive with one another. It's definitely interesting, and I'd love to come back to it in the future if you decide to keep working on it. Great work!

Thank you!

Im probably not going to take it further than a patched version once the submissions open up again.

Im already work on two projects. Don't think I could handle a third XD

Lolol understandable

heya it's Pachi from discord!
I read SE4W3ED's comment and your response, and I'd say for the most part they covered my feelings about the experience too. It's very clear to me that you have a strong core mechanic: grappling and swinging with vertigo-inducing sensations! I wonder what part of the narrative I was missing, because the LOTR references, teddy bear NPCs, zombie character hands, dungeon turned skyscrapper threw me off a bit.
Anywho, good effort for the jam jam!

Thank you!

Admittedly a lot of the 'world building' was just me throwing random things together and hoping they stuck. As for the bear names, that was very last minute. So they're a bit random.

The movement has been polished excellently, with the exception of certain “hooks” requiring a more precise approach than others. Perhaps a larger collision box may aid the player’s grasp, especially when soaring through the air.

This is truly a work of art.

Thank you!
I definitely should have spent some time tweaking the grapple point's colliders. It just kinda got lost among the other tasks.

Overall, I loved this little game! As a fellow grappling game I was a big fan of how the mechanic was implemented. It was super fun flinging around and pulling things towards me. The visuals were gorgeous and finding all the coins was a nice little challenge. The teddy quests were also very on theme. This game felt a lot like Reaver in the best possible way.

One thing I would really like to see is more sfx/music and maybe music that fits better within the game. Sometimes it was hard to know if I was on the right path or if I was doing what I was supposed ton be doing because there were no sounds guiding me and providing feedback. Obviously the constraints of the jam come for us all, but sfx would be an incredible addition. I also liked the music at the end but because I didn't really know the story, I didn't feel like the music fit within the context of everything that we had done throughout the game.

Additionally, I think there are more ways to hammer home the generosity theme using the final score/grade system at the end. Maybe some kind of formula that takes into account the amount of coins leftover, how many bears helped, and the time leftover.

Also, I couldn't figure out how to save the teddy bear in the cave. I tried moving the block everywhere and talking to both bears but for whatever reason I just couldn't get it to work.

Finally, if you are to make any tweaks I would love for the maze section to be replaced by something else or to implement a run/slide feature. I feel as though the game is mostly about movement and swinging and putting in a maze disrupts the flow and also causes some wacky interactions with the arms.

These are obviously mostly just minor problems. The game was still a lot of fun and I had a good time with it. Overall, great game, tons of fun, and I would definitely recommend!

Thanks for the in-depth review!
I also really wish I managed to get some sfx in. I think the next jam I do I'm going to change my approach and add sounds as I'm working on mechanics.

I purposely left helping the bears out of the scoring system. Since my goal was to make it so helping the bears would negatively impact your score. But I did want to reward the player in some way. So each time you help a bear, the world changes a bit. Helping the first bear stops the rain. Helping the second one increases the saturation. And helping the third adds music.

As for the maze...I just ran out of ideas. And I didn't have the time to brainstorm a better one TwT.

And yeah, the first bear is currently broken. I forgot to move the trigger collider when I made the room smaller.

Yes of course! And it seems I misunderstood your intended purpose and missed the additions to the game! Hearing the rationale, everything makes a lot more sense and I really like the open ended way you left things! And the maze wasn't horrible by any means I just think the more swinging the better! And thank you for the clarification on the first bear! That would have bothered me haha.

It's definitely bothering me XD

Story - I'm not super sure what the story was. The player is some kind of long-armed city-wide parkour expert who saves teddy bears and grabs mario coins! That's about as much as I could figure out haha.

Mechanics - I dug the stretchy arm mechanics. Pushing and pulling on stuff felt good and I really enjoyed yoinking myself across rooftops!

Theme - I think taking the time to save the teddies really did highlight the theme. Shaving off those precious minutes to hunt the bear in the mine felt like a sacrifice, but one I was willing to make to help the little guy.

Audio/Visual - When I opened up the game, all I heard was the sound of the wind. But your itch page has credits for music, so I'm not sure if it was my computer that didn't have the music playing or if something went wrong in the build? But it's a shame because I really enjoyed the music you posted to your page.

Overall - Pretty cool romp through unique locations. Not sure what I was romping from or why, but sometimes it's fun just to romp! Great job!

Thank you!
Admittedly never got the time to properly flesh out the story. But you're close enough XD

The music is played near the end of the game. I wish I managed to get some more sounds in, but never managed to find the time.
