Describe the improvement that you have been working for this jam
I was trying to fix the ball overlap by adding more spawn points and slowing them down. It worked a bit but not fully. I’m still learning and this is my first real game so I just did what I could and kept it playable.

Describe your game in one sentence
Trust your brain not your eyes or maybe just get lucky.

What feedback are you looking for
Wanna know if the colour word thing works or just confuses people.
Also curious if the pacing or ball spawns feel fair or frustrating.

You can add some animation to the label that tells which color to catch when the objective is being changed.

The pace is fine for my taste as it gives a nice balance to the challenge :)

Totally agree with the comment below regarding the idea :) you can also expand it to shapes, movement styles or switch the color/word focus as mentioned below as well :) really neat idea of challenging focusing abilities! I hope you will continue this game and we'll see how it progresses :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to play and share your thoughts. I was mostly just figuring things out as I went, so hearing this kind of feedback really helps. I definitely want to try adding those suggestions in future versions or jams. I didn’t think that far ahead while making it, but now I’ve got ideas to build on. Really means a lot :)

This feels fun and addictive! My top score is 27 so far I think? I like the basic challenge a ton, pacing feels challenging but not so much so I’m overwhelmed (I imagine you’ll get a range of skill levels though, and I’m probably on the lower end), and I think it’d be fun to add info to the score about how much the color confused any given person — I found myself wishing I could find out if I did worse when the words were a different color from what they said than when they were the same). Also agree with p4songer it’d be really cool if you switched it up occasionally, so that sometimes you had to pay attention to the color instead of the words. This was a ton of fun, thank you!

I’m glad you found the game fun and not too overwhelming because I was honestly worried the pacing might be off. That idea of tracking whether people mess up more when the colour and word clash is actually so interesting I didn’t even think of that but it makes total sense. Also yeah switching things up like making the player follow the color sometimes is something I definitely want to try but I didn’t know how to make it work smoothly yet. This was my first proper game so I just wanted to get something working and out there but I’m excited to build on it. Really appreciate you taking the time to write this :)

This is the start to a cool game! I think the one thing it's missing is a change up.  The color / word challenge is a challenge because we try to read things before we consider the color of things. So, to make it more interesting you could use a keyword like "color" or "word" to change what you need to catch. All that to say, the word / color thing isn't confusing, it's a cool concept for a game.

Also, not sure if this is a bug, but I lose a life no matter what I do. If I catch the right color, it's fine, but if I let the wrong color touch the ground, I lose a life anyway.

yeah you’re right I only noticed that bug after playing it a bunch of times post submission. It was meant to take a life only when you catch the wrong colour, not just when any wrong one hits the ground. pretty sure i messed up the condition and didn’t catch it in time  and the keyword switch idea is actually really cool, hadn’t thought of that at all. thanks for pointing it out, genuinely helps :)
