1Very spooky. Seems there is so no happy ending to be found, heh. I liked the page turning effect and the eye cursor. Wish there was more to do! Nice job using Hoot for this!
hoot is certainly coming along. I have a bunch of different libraries I want to port to scheme/hoot to goof around with some ideas around syntax and I found creating modules much easier this time around. I still need to test fibers and ultimately I am interested in goblins but I only had around 15 hours to spare this jam. Still I think 2026 should be a lot more interesting and hope to see these jams and hoot continue :D
Like the book metaphor. Eyeball cursor is a good idea, but you might investigate turning off actual cursor -- the disparity between the two was sometimes distracting.
A lot of the pictures you paint with words are honestly pretty spooky. I would've love to have seen some art of the creepy endings. The writing of the deepest path was so good I had to click through every option in the hopes I finding more.
Unfortunately I ran into a lot of "untimely demise" and "TODO" s along the branches. I almost would've been happier with a quarter of the options with one more interesting end. It was also frustrating to have to restart the game after every death, though maybe I missed the restart button somewhere.
The eyeball mouse cursor and book animations were splendid! Really great work. Would love to see this book completed!
Thanks for the kind words, I contracted my teenager for art and writing but it's been a busy week with the school year closing.
