I'm not particularly fond of shmups, so I'm a bit biased towards the base gameplay, but I did like the overall progression and the visual style. The real problem lays in the amount of visual noise that the game posses, mostly due to the very intrusive background and the small projectiles that the enemies fire. With some polish on this regard it could become a solid throwback game!

Many people agree, they all say about gow the big background stars cover up enemy bullets and I totally agree, otherwise, Thanks!

After the first wave was defeated no other wave appeared, pretty sure it's a bug, checked the console and there was a fatal crash associated with lootlocker, unfortunate. All the other comments mentions this, but the stars really made it difficult to see the enemies projectiles. Still, good job! These things are to be expected on game jams.

Developer

hm, not sure about the bug. and yeah, the stars.

Developer

I may have just fixed it, not sure.

Cool concept and the gameplay was fun. The bigger stars in the background made it hard to read where enemy bullets are. The bosses were a little underwhelming. I still had fun and I think this is a great submission! Good job.

I agree with those points, the boss was underwhelming as i had barely anytime to finish, i wanted to have them shoot enemies as well. the stars once again were distracting and i think i shouldve made them smaller orbblend in more with the back ground. glad you liked the game!

I'd say Space Invaders more than Galaxian, but, with some more work, this could be great. The big stars are off-putting (I kept thinking they were bullets) and I'd like to see an explosion/reset when you're hit. Overall, good work!

Developer

Ig yeah space invaders, I do also think the starts are a bit offputting, i think i shouldve made the big ones a tiny bit smaller

the music and sfx in this game are top notch, and i love the retro art style! however, i don't know if this is just me, but it felt like the enemy projectiles didn't really stand out and were difficult to see, and as the waves went on and the projectiles got faster it just felt like your ship wasn't fast enough to get out of the way. Overall though it was a great game, absolutely LOVED the soundtrack and the art style was very fitting! Great job!

the audio and art is not done by me, but i agree its amazing. i agree with the enemy projectiles are hard to see and i do feel like i shouldve sped up the ship as well, thanks!

I think this is an interesting take on the theme, I wouldn't have thought of making a space invaders like game. I think the gameplay is a little monotonous and the bullets speeding up over time makes it a little difficult to get used to the shooting. The art's really great and it all fits well together. Overall good job!

thanks!
