Hi! Just a reminder of this rule: " To be eligible to win any of the prizes, your team has to play and give feedback to five other entries by Monday, 5th October 2020".

So if you haven't done it yet, you still have the rest of this weekend and Monday to give your feedback!

Developer

Awesome, already commented on more than five and will probably check out more entries this weekend!

Thanks for hosting this jam, had loads of fun :)

Cool game! The music really brought the story to life!

I'm not a fan of reading in games but it kept me engaged all the way through!

I would of added a few simple pictures to really add more flavor!

But good job. Had fun with this one. :)

Yo David, thanks for the feedback!

The idea is to do it without any images so the player can fill in the visuals with their imagination.

So using the sound to make it more engaging. I've worked on something similar (text game with sounds) and made single scenes richer by implementing more sounds in that single scene and it worked out quite well (at least from my perspective). That being said, I usually don't mind reading in games too much.

Also, tried to keep each scene as short as possible to keep the player interactivity going (by constantly interacting to progress through scenes).

So for future projects of this kind, I'm looking at playing around a bit more with code to implement more animated elements to further increase the richness of a scene. CrissOle's entry, Thumela , did some really cool things in that regard!

I also tried hard not to make the story gender specific so with Aiden, for instance, the name is unisex and never refer to them as her or him as to open up the immersive aspect to anyone who is playing. While we're on the point, did you ever feel like you were playing a specific gender?

Glad you had fun dude, thanks for playing :)

Loved the sounds, super well written. Ending reminded me a bit of the space jump short story from love, death and robots, thanks for the entertainment!!

Would've enjoyed alternative endings and a restart button :]

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, ReadyGO!

Ah, heard great things about Love, Death and Robots! Haven't watched it yet, will give it a go!

So, there are actually about 4 alternative endings, with one of them also having a few outcomes.

Which ending did you get? (With out spoilers haha)

Oh damn, think I'll try it again then! I got to the 1 where I met my crush - this is the ending that was much alike the story I mentioned :]

Developer

Oh nooo, you're spoiling the story a bit haha!

So before you reach the party, there is a story branch, and when you talk to Amy as well (with a few more variations too).

Great job, I really enjoyed this experience, your writing is very good. Great use of sound! I would recommend styling this baby up with CSS and using the typewriter effect, screenshake and the timed macro to make for more dramatic effects. Also when you reach an ending, consider putting a link back to the menu/start so I don't have to restart the page to play again.  Also don't forget to give credit to the origin of audio files.

Developer

Thanks for playing, @Riker!

Glad you got some enjoyment out of it :)

Yeah, wish I had more time for the sound. Really wanted to get meticulous and enrich the audio experience per scene.

Yes, busy experimenting and learning with CSS and Sugarcube 2. Was amazed to see what @CrissOle did with Twine.

Restart loop was definitely planned, just didn't have to implement it as I had to stop each sound individually in code otherwise is kept playing. Since I'm really enjoying playing around with sound in Twine games, going to look into how other people implemented sound engines so I have a bit more control.

Did give credits in description! Totally forgot to implement in-game!
