I love how this game looks. Feels quite polished in terms of interactions. I really liked the healing effects. I think I struggled a bit with the difficulty. Buildings were very fragile and I ended up healing the whole time, but even then I couldn't really keep up with the onslaught. I could be missing something on that front though. The foreboding sense the bombers gave me really sold the "on the brink" vibe.
Thanks for the feedback! You're right, the difficulty was too high. Something I've learnt since doing this jam is that your own skills as the developer increase quickly through repeated playtesting, so I set it to a level that challenged me but I was playing like an e-sports pro so that was a good lesson for me. Appreciate your confirmations and thanks for the kind words! :)
Hi! Just a reminder of this rule: " To be eligible to win any of the prizes, your team has to play and give feedback to five other entries by Monday, 5th October 2020".
So if you haven't done it yet, you still have the rest of this weekend and Monday to give your feedback!
Great effort here! Really enjoyed your special effects and music. :)
Couldn't figure out how to heal the building. Controls just says 2? Was using R Mouse Button and pressing 2 on the keyboard but nothing was happening.
You could make it more intuitive with clearer controls as an upgrade!
Did feel like I was always on the brink though so good job.
2 selects your repair weapon. 1 selects your attack weapon. Left mouse fires your selected weapon. I wanted to include some UI to make this clearer but alas - time!
I think with a 2 weapon system, R mouse button would make more sense though. Thanks for the feedback Dave!
No worries! Yeah it didn't seem clear that something was being healed. But fun game anyway! :D
Thanks Dave. I agree with you on the repair dynamic, I can definitely see it's design is not so intuitive to building repair. Sometimes it's easy to let technical decisions take precedence over good design decisions, especially with the time pressure of a jam, and I think this instance is definitely such a case! I'll spend a little more time on this game in the future and this will be one of the things i'll change.
