Thoughts recorded during my playthrough

+ = I liked it

- = I didn't like it

* = Comment/neutral

====================

- No BGM on the title screen? :-(

- The “pad config” menu doesn't make sense. I can see that “button1” is “decided,” but what does that mean on my keyboard? I want to use Z for “OK” and “X” for cancel, but I have no idea how to do that.

- Looks like you're missing a period after “special.”

+ Cool menu layout. Would be nice if the icons didn't overlap the characters, but that's a minor complaint.

- OK, I'm finally able to play but I have no idea what the controls are. Help.

- Damage popup when I attack an enemy says "0" but I still kill them.

- I can't figure out how to get to the ledge after the first enemy. It looks too high to jump to.

- I got this when I lost all of my lives

Summary

I like the concept of a Mega Man-inspired game in RM, but I didn't like how this worked. I honestly believe that if you want to make a platforming game you should look into other engines like Pixel Game Maker, GameMaker Studio, or Unity. That said, it's clear that you put a lot of effort into making the game look nice, so props for that. I see that you have taken this game down for improvements, so I wish you the best of luck as you work to improve this game.

Interesting idea, but kind of annoying implementation.

Controls are weird. You use space for input instead of z, which seemed kind of odd and somewhat unintuitive because you can attack and such during cutscenes. Also, controls seem to be loose (inaccurate/slide to nearest point/slides) instead of tight (accurate/all landing spots are points/solid landing), which makes the platforming a bit harder.

Controls change for the trial level from z,x,c to x,c,v. Trial doesn't really show you how to pass the enemies (double stack and such).

The perspective felt bad. Would have been better to stick with just walls as a standard platformer instead of having these weird perspectives that keep changing. Made it hard to tell what was solid and what wasn't.

Some wall jumps are a bit off because it looks like you should be able to land the jump, but don't.

The death point is a bit high on the level, so you die before expected.

Some areas have weird collision.

The gunner looks like it shoots through the wall. Not sure if it actually does.

The beast boss was a bit too hard to deal with, especially if you started in a bad spot. His level was just annoying to deal with because you had to time the jump and sometimes you couldn't wall jump. By the time I figured out what you were supposed to do, I had already game over'ed.

Couldn't figure out the mechanic of the first boss, so I just brute force attacked it until it died.

The teleport in is weird because you can move, but you don't actually move until the teleport animation finishes.

At least make it obvious that you can't use Tina in the list like how the third character shows locked. Like, Tina / Non-Demo Only or something.

The damage showing 0 for everything was a bit confusing too

Pretty obvious spoof/parody of Megaman 3, but I think it needs a lot of fixing.

Very cool idea, I like alternative game styles and this is inspiring. Show all the controls. Also it crashes right after every respawn even in new game saves. Maybe it has something to do with erasing events and trying to read them but thats just an educated guess.

(+1)

The game has beautiful visuals and Epic music.

Controllers had to be mapped to my prefrence and also the damage input wasnt accurate, but overall regardless of the crash, I fully understood what the dev was trying to create. MN3 was on point with the topic of "Touch the Stars" game jam theme and also was very intriguing to see a side scroller on this engine!
