Very cool faction! I think the bee icons on the Preserves should be a little larger though, it took me a while to even spot them. If they were centered in the building and the same size as the draw icon it would definitely help.
In the second of the Queen's command would you be able to move the Keep? That seems potentially dangerous, but it is a cool idea.
It seems like it might be hard to get preserves out on the board as it takes a turn to convert conservation tokens to preserves and you can only place one token per turn until you have more preserves.
I like how you've kept everything on brand for bees! A militant faction with little battle prowess is also something I haven't seen before, and can be really fun to play around with.
I do agree the move action may need to be reworded a little, but upon the explanation in the comments I think it's a fitting and understandable mechanic that seems pretty fun!
I also like how their defense mechanism and save the queen actions are tied into where your buildings are. Gives a nice push and pull. You get your buildings out... Opponents will have to deal with it or will be FORCED to!
I'm just a little worried about their scoring. It seems their main mechanism will only get them up to 5 points (minus crafting). Which usually is ok! But these lil fellas don't seem like they wanna get any of those extra points to close the gap through battling. Might make points for the win a bit tough to come by!
Thanks :)
Cool concept!
I have a question about the Queen's command step in Daylight - it says to do that step once, plus one for every bee you have showing, yet I don't see any bees or tracks with bees on the faction board. What does that step/symbol mean?
It's real small, but there are bees above the 3rd and 5th preserve slots on the preserve track :)
Wow! Yes, those are small, but definitely there, my bad!
Really interesting faction - love the snooty bee artwork - where is that from? Did you create it?!
I really like the swarm mechanics, especially around Avenge Mother Earth. I wonder if the Hive should have a similarly powerful mechanic. It feels like Preserves are far more important than the Hive but surely in bee lore, you protect the hive at all costs. Maybe bump up Save the Queen to make it more powerful, although I appreciate balancing a faction is a nightmare and this could give the bees too much of an advantage. But perhaps something that makes taking down the hive pretty hard, like removing the cats keep.
The Queen's Commands are cool - when you have the 'plus one per bee icon showing', does the bee icon represent warriors on the board? If not, what does it represent?
Interesting faction - I also like the fact that you score in Birdsong and Recruit in Evening, which is unusual. I like the thematic element of the bees heading back to the hive at night after a hard day's work!
also, i do think moving enemy tokens can be both very (too) disruptive and potentially game breaking. For example moving the keep, or moving a plot or a sympathy into another clearing with the same piece.
I can't deny possible problems there. I would love for the Keep, at least, to be exempt from this. I started to think about solutions to this, but also came up on the deadline to submit 💀
very cool! I do have some questions though. How does move work? How i read it i spend a card, then i have to move to every matching clearing with all warriors that can possibly move. So if i spend a fox card, all warriors adjacent to any fox clearing will have to move to that fox clearing. Is this correct? Do you chose if there are multiple adjacent matching clearings?
You're reading it exactly correct! And yes, if there are multiple matching clearings, then you do get to choose which one to move to.
You even could send, say, half the warriors from within a clearing to Fox clearing A and half to Fox clearing B (if there are two adjacent Fox clearings). The key thing is that as many warriors as possible are moving to a clearing matching the spent card suit.
