Title
The Whale Wide Web

Description
This track was made to be an area theme for a city of whales with advanced technology. I incorporated the jam's prompt into the main sections of the song, and into the middle section. I also changed the rhythm of the prompt to linger more on the first, third, and last notes of the motif (I don't know the technical term for this). I had about two other songs using the motif given, but ultimately decided this was the best of the bunch.

Inspiration comes, in part, from the song Termite Capitol by Tristan Alric (Bug Fables soundtrack).

I feel most confident about the overall atmosphere of the track, but any detailed feedback would be very appreciated!

YouTube offered me Bug Fables music as a suggestion.

I can hear the inspiration, but it's not copy/paste, and it's really good (I talk about your music). You've made me want to buy this game :)

As for the music, you've used the motif very well to build your melody. It sticks in your head, it's simple and effective.

Towards the end, when you add all the tracks, it feels like a real climax. The tracks are sufficiently well panned so that every sound can be heard. I just feel there's a bit too much mid and hi. But I could be wrong (mixing and mastering are my Achilles heel).

I'm nitpicking on this point because overall I loved it.

Thank you! One look at my other youtube videos is enough to show how crazy I am about Bug Fables. It was really fun to make a song inspired by it, and I'm glad it still has enough originality to not seem like a copy! (Also I'm happy I got you interested in the game heheh). As for the mids and highs, mixing and mastering are my weaknesses too so you might be right. I'll try to pay a bit more attention to the eq stuff in the future! :)

oh and I actually set it to recommend that video (when you add an end card you can choose to put a specific video rec), but I'm sure the algorithm would've carried through without my influence too lol

This has a nice touch, with the bass and the pads! The melody is also quite catchy and the area feeling you described really transfers. Only thing I would change is the mix. Some parts seem a bit crowded to me and could be cleared up with some eq maybe? Nice work! :)

Darn I was a little worried about crowding, especially in the climax section, and admittedly eq is a weakness of mine. Thank you for the feedback!

You are welcome! Hmm you could try to change the mid-lows or try some sort of bathtub EQ. I usually look at the spectrum and try to add some sort of seperation between the frequency bands. But I am no expert either. We are here to help each other and improve upon our feedback :)

Nice song! I like the watery and electronic themes you are using, really fits a city of superior whales.

Overall just a great track, love the bass line, nice drum line, great balance with the melody and supporting accompaniment, consistent atmosphere with interesting contrast between sections, it's got it all! Also really enjoyed how the theme was used throughout the music. Awesome job!

Thank you so much!

The bass line keeps me hooked for the whole track, and as a bass lover, I totally like this one. I like how everything builds on that. Really nice track

Thank you :)

HUGE W getting inspiration from termite capitol. That was one of my favorite songs from bug fables and I can absolutely hear the inspiration.

If you listened to the song I submitted last RMCC I took heavy inspiration from the bug fables song Oh No WASPS by using the alternating 11/8 12/8 time signature.

Thank you! I think I sat out last month’s jam, but I just took a listen to your submission from that one and it’s pretty neat!
