Great pixel art. I loved using the dash ability to dart past the enemies. Best of luck if you choose to work this prototype into your larger concept - I think you could make something very cool.

the enemy sprites really do it for me

Keep working on fleshing out these game mechanics, good work

i really like the aesthetic, it gives me warm nostalgic feelings which is a great start.

Keep it up, i hope you get to finish your larger concept some day!

It's a good start. Like the character design and environment art.

The game could give more feedback, I think. Have played Moonlighter quite a lot and would refer to this one in terms of movement speed and audio + visual feedback in form of soundFx and particles.

Right now I can cheat a win because enemies get stuck at obstacle corners, which makes it possible to kill them without being attacked.

Developer

Ah yes I played Moonlighter a few months ago! It's definitely much more polished than this prototype. Though I mainly used the spear-type weapons, I don't know how the sword gameplay compares.

The enemy AI is definitely a weak point with the gameplay of this prototype and something I'll have to research more when I work on this prototype further.

Would be nice to add a knnockback effect on attack, was eaten by mobs after attack animation recovery T_T

Otherwise a nice project, reminded me of my GBA, lets his digital soul rest in peace wherever it be

Developer

Yeah that's fair, I tried to do knockback on the final hit of the combo but I don't think it was far enough. Hard to get the balance of keeping enemies within the combo while not near enough that they hit the player.

This is good! I love the sprinting animation, felt very fluid and speedy feets for getting away from a mob ˙˚ʚ( •ω• )ɞ˚˙
