And I thought we made the wonkiest controls :D
But actually the movement is fun! Just for a cat, the jump could be much faster/ more impactful.

Developer

Thanks for playing and a lot more for the feedback. I see what you mean, I guess i know what it should feel like. I once heard a podcast about snappy movement, it just got reminded of it. It was about movement in Mario if i'm correct, where there is a linear raise and a sharper falloff after reaching the maximum jump distance. I just used the internal Physics, maybe a more manual approach to jumping would actually change the feel of it. It's on the list of things to work over and learn more about

- Camera Controller

- Charakter Controller

- Jump Behaviour

Haha :D, that's exactly how I imagine having a cat. Good that I'm not a cat person. +1 extra star for her detailed backside

Developer(+1)

Finally someone noticed this detail!
I'm actually not a cat person myself :D But i have seen a lot of cat videos, and since my gf is working as a animal keeper she sometimes tells me about the crazy and sometimes stupid stuff cats are up to, when left alone. Especially red cats

Nice One <3

You perfectly hit the theme and made a cat game. If the controls would have been a bit easier I would consider it perfect! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing ^^ I'm going to improve on my charakter controller skills going into the future. It was a lot of first times for me. My first time using GDScript since im new to Godot and normally use C#, my first time taking part in a game jam and also my first time i made a thrid person game.
I really appreciate every single one playing this game and giving feedback. I made a note to improve on my charakter and especially important for me, my camera controller. That think drove me crazy and still annoys the hell out of me :D

Wait! this was your first jam?! Don't worry you did amazing! Respect!

Developer(+1)

yes :) It was a spontaneus decision too. Almost decided to not publish it since i thought it was to bad and felt awkward about it. Still did it. Best decision I'm super happy with all that positive feedback. I'm not completely new to game development, i'm experimenting with programming and game dev for years now as a hobby, but never published anything, mostly did it for myself just to learn and chasing but never finishing dreams.

I know this may sound stupid but do you want to join our Game Jam community? You seem really nice :3

Developer(+1)

Thank you ^^ I'm already in a Godot Game Dev Community but i would like to join a game jam community too, even though i don't know how often i will be able to take part in future game jams since i have to start working on my bachelor degree project soon.

Nice entry! We considered doing something similar, before deciding it was a bit large in scope for a jam game. Nice job getting something playable. I scored 473.

Feedback: Having different particles/SFX for different objects would have been cool.

Developer

Thats a good score for a beginner keep in mind, that there are 3 stages of Damage you can do ^^ 0-300 is minor Damage, 300-600 is Major Damage and >600 is absolut rampage. Every score range has its own audio response.

I know what you mean i wished for the destroyed objects to actually split when getting destroyed, but in a hurry i decided to just give the objects a particle effect in their respective colors and overwork the fire particles a bit. Otherwise there would probably be some objects that split and some that do nothing. This way its at least consistent in behaviour

Thanks for playing though ^^

I really appreciate that

I somehow gained more objections about getting a cat.

Developer(+1)

Avoid getting a red/orange one. Every catowner i know who had followed the development told me to make it red/orange since they are known for being absolut crazy furrballs.

Love the idea of my cat just going on a complete rampage as soon as I leave the house :D

I really like the idea that is also fitting the theme! The movement handling is a bit off, though and it tends to freeze sometimes when hitting bigger stuff. The cat also "flies" at certain points, which makes it funny, but is probably not intended. Good game for a 48 hour jam, but needs some refinements :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing :D
The movement is a really big point i'm not quite happy about. Something i would like to polish more if i had more time. But the "flying" is actually intentional if the cat enters a special area around a burning object, wich differs in size relative to the size of the burning Object. In "How to be naughty" it states that cats are scared of fire. They will jump away from it ^^ This can acutally be used to get a jumping boost if planned correctly.

the cat is flying :D

Really enjoyed this! Can't wait to see what's next!

I had fun playing this game. Roberta is a cozy little nighmare. love it.
Nice sounds - are the sounds from you own cat ? - i love them.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing 😁 the sounds are from a page I linked in the games description. They got some really nice sounds that are open source.

I was a naughty Roberta! I hope you can forgive me!

I loves this kind of broken movement :D It was really fun to glitch up the wardrobe with metal music :D
