- I really enjoyed the jumping puzzles of this game and the movement felt pretty good. I did have a little trouble sometimes where it wouldn't let me over through the grates and had to keep trying. The level design was interesting and added just enough challenge to be engaging. The scrolls with the paragraphs of text was overwhelming and honestly was too much to read. I would break up the story you're telling through different discoverables so you're not overloading the player with text.

Morphosis in a 2d Platformer in the same realm as MetroidVanias. The mechanics revolve around the characters body being alchemically changed to have slime-like properties, allowing them to explore the dungeon in ways a normal person cannot. Their unique body also allows them to consume corpses to heal themselves and set a checkpoint to regenerate their body on death. The story revolves around the protagonist discovering their whereabouts and the details on the shadowy organization that was experimenting on them, this comes about in the form of the journal entries of the Alchemists of Midnight.

Great game! There something puzzle-like about figuring out which way you need to shape shift to get through a particular problem. Good mood and atmosphere. Overall a pretty solid game prototype.
Appreciate you taking the time to play! This was our first jam, and we definitely underestimated the time it takes to get assets done. We had alot of ideas and only got the bare minimum of them into the prototype. But im very glad you got the jist of what we were going for with the atmosphere! Thanks again and good luck in judging!
Loved the atmosphere of the game! As mentioned in a previous comment, I do agree that the jump control feels a bit floaty. To make it feel better, you can apply a bit more gravity on the fall state so it feels more snappy.
Appreciate you taking the time to play and give feedback. If we do a full version I definitely wanna keep the atmosphere and aesthetics while polishing up the movement and bringing in the actual upgrade system.
Nice submission and great interpretation of the theme! Pushing through the gate feels really good because it is not instant. You have to walk into it for a few frames. I also really like the way you present the story. Two points of feedback:
Appreciate your feedback, thanks for playing. The floatiness was a bit intentional but I agree it could be toned down. We'll unfortunately can't really change it now, so hopefully they feel the need to push through the whole demo since it's pretty short. Thanks again.
Really good work! I like the atmosphere and overall level design. I also really like the environmental storytelling. Good job all around!
Okay, this was great! Loved the overall atmosphere, and especially the sense of exploration. The controls could be a little tricky to wrangle at times - for example, jumping off walls when not intended - but I still found the game really fun and challenging regardless, and enjoyed getting a feel for the movement. The level design was great! Could definitely see this being a solid foundation for a larger-scale game!
Thanks for taking the time to play! And appreciate the honest feedback. We wanted to have a bit of a floaty feel to it as the character has become much lighter due to the experimentation. It kinda gives a "bouncing off the walls" feel after you unlock wall jump. We had about 10 levels in the original design schedule but this is our first Jam and we heavily underestimated the how long things take to make from scratch haha. But if the game gets popular enough, we would love to do a full release!
