  • GDD: Solid concept. Nice to see coloured game mechanics. Fantastic to included the UI art, the concept arts of the NPC and monsters. And there is an breakdown development timeline. If I could rated GDD, I would give 5/5. Game: The main menu is nice. I wish there were an proper setting menu for remapping keys / gamepad support, more audio control and etc. Nice to see an loading screen! Would love to see an tutorial for player to learned about the game mechanics. Had expected the tower of Rhekari to be a safe zone for the players to escape from the shadows, but it wasnt a safe place. The goal of the game is very confusing. I walked around aimless fighting against many shadows until I re-read from the comments for what to do. This leaves a bad player experience if they have to learned about the end goal outside of the game. Again, the tutorial could have help out here. However I dont get the feeling of the whole theme, but I can see light is spreading, and so do shadows.

Full of bugs that stopped every attempt to play. Trying to upgrade abilities led to an endless spawn of hundreds of enemies that kill you before you can even pick 1 or 2 upgrades. Constantly getting randomly stuck in objects several feet away from me. Every time I've activated the pillar of Light or whatever, 3 enemies come out, I kill them, and then I'm stuck in that space because you can't turn it off to leave.

It looks great, but I can't even play for 4 minutes before having to restart the thing.

Game is really great, it sucks that you weren't able to get the full build done for the jam, and that gamebreaking bug is in there, but playing the bugfixed version damn man you guys are onto one killer game, and I really hope you guys keep working together on it! (please try to avoid feature creep though otherwise y'all will be developing this forever)

I forgot to comment on this project. This game is super super cool man. Music, art, execution of game play. Super awesome and impressive polish. Inspiring for sure

Thanks so much!

Definitely an amazing and well polished project. You took a relatively simple concept and executed it well. Bravo :)

Shooting and movement feel pretty tight, seems like an idea worth pursuing! :)

I was immediately blown away by the music and art of this game. The sound and special effects make every single action so much more satisfying. I was however very confused what the goal of the game was, I got lost very easily and  died fast. Maybe a slower difficulty spike could ease players more into the game. I got jumped by all the enemies, I almost never saw them comming. It's also  super easy to get swarmed. But that probably has to do with my gaming skills.
There were some bugs here and there but radclyffe already mentioned those.
The atmosphere kept me engaged enough to keep trying, it's really beautiful.

Thanks so much for this feedback!
I am glad that you enjoyed what we have been cooking up for the past 2 weeks! :)

And yeah. The difficulty spike might be too steep because some safe zones are wrongfully defined as endgame danger zones :D

As an additional note: if you want to, check the bugfix version of the game. The small towers now have a failsafe mechanism that still make you progress the game in case you encounter a spawn bug :)

Bottom zone is easy.

Left zone is medium hard.

Right zone is hard.

Maybe this will help you finish the game. I would really like to know what you think about it after finishing :)

Great start for two weeks. Could use some in-world controls hints, even if it's just an "E" over the interactables. Also, one of the lamps had a 5 over it after turning it on, didn't see anything that made sense for that in the design doc, was it just a debugging thing or do the lamps have time limits or something?

Not sure if it was a bug or the teleporting ability, but during the battles around the tower all the enemies would just disappear sometimes. After I died, I sometimes came back with auto fire, not complaining, but probably not intended :-D

Definitely had the "encroaching darkness" and "things appearing out of shadows to get you" creepy feel. Sweet title art too.

Hey, thank you for your feedback. The number above the lamps is in fact intended. It is a number of currency that gets added to the player.

Feature creep definitely got us there and we just added stuff that we thought would be cool. Like lamps. :D

Around the main tower. There is a bug which makes the tower to a combat zone instead of the safe zone until you reach your first light shard. The disappearing is caused by the despawn mechanic for the safe zone.
