Which path did you choose?

Patch Build

How does your game bring our theme, OUT OF TIME, to life?
The core mechanic of the game loop is cooking dishes under the constant pressure of TIME!

What did you do to ensure accessibility of the game?
To be honest, nothing for the PN build.
There are volume sliders in the options menu though!

Wow, a goblin themed overcooked, this is unexpected. I loved the idea of a fantasy cooking game, with strange food items instead of real-world items. Not sure if I am playing the correct build, given that the game is not what the screenshots depict, and I am only playing level 1. Managed to finish it, but barely. The game is quite difficult with the multitasking setup, but still really fun!

Other things I like:

  • Nice music that complements the game greatly
  • RPG artstyle which matches fantasy settings nicely
  • Interesting system where you can leave the orders as is, and focus on the newer ones instead. Interesting way of slightly punishing the player for not completing orders, yet still allowing comebacks and/or risk decision making

Suggestions:

  • I think the dialogues are a bit long, and would hope they are either skippable or shortened to allow the player to get into the gameplay more directly
  • Consider changing fonts, with this amount of text, it's really hard to read
  • Consider using images and icons for orders instead of text. It's another thing that should streamline the process, reducing unnecessary complications for the player
  • Cooking icon (the one with the Q button) should always visable and larger. It's really annoying to switch to a gob just to check the item status

Anyway, this is still really nicely done. Seeing you are trying to put this on Steam, I'll wish you all the best of luck!

Hey Kelvin! Thank you for playing the game. I’m glad that you had fun!

Great feedback, too! A lot of this has been echoed by others both here and on discord, so these are definitely areas that agree the game will benefit from some attention to. Thank you very much for taking the time to give such constructive criticism, and for your well-wishes with Steam.

What font are you suggesting change? The font on the order tickets, the in-game dialogue, or the text appearing above in-game objects?

PS. Yeah, I never updated the screenshots for the second build! Oops!

Love this funny take on overcooked style games. I really enjoyed the music and vibe of this game. From the bat wings to slime, I thought it was a fun take.

The tutorial for this game makes it very clear how to play which is a really nice! All the bones I think sit really well with the game, only thing I would say is ticket times can be a little tight, but it's fine, considering if you get it wrong there's really no recovery. I liked the multiple "gobs" idea being able to automatically jiggle the dish to keep things from burning. The indicator that a dish is done could be a bit clearer, but I see what you were trying to do!

I really liked the music I thought it fit the fun vibe you were going for. Art is very detailed!

I would say if you're going to bind Arrow keys to an action to add an additional binding. Some players do not have arrow keys on their keyboards or they are locked behind a key combination. Other thing I would say is in the future for games like these where you can do a web build I would HIGHLY encourage you to build for web jam games. It just makes it much easier for users to play your game.

Overall good job! Enjoyed playing! Keep it up!

Thank you for the feedback! I’m really glad to hear how much you liked the game!

We did try to get a web build done after submitting the windows build, but the game wasn’t optimized for it off the bat, which led to the web build being unplayable.

Something I’ll definitely be looking to do in the future though!

Hello! The game is very beautiful and colorful. As a possible improvement, you could use images with hints and also show the dish using pictures, so it’s intuitive even without understanding English — clear through colors or icons.

Relying only on color can be a bit confusing, so for example, you could highlight key ingredients with base colors: slime is green, wings are red, and so on. It would also help if the dish showed its main color. This could speed up player engagement and learning. Thanks for the game!

I’m glad you enjoyed the game. :)

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback on the accessibility in the game. I’ll give this a go and see how it translates to the gameplay. :)

Great demo, and good loop but man my brain on that last challenge on level 1 was cooked. I need to sit down and get some sleep before attempting managing 3 gobos again hahaha.
