Message from the artist
Hi there!
I used FL studio to produce this track. The idea was to apply procedures used in minimal music to construct a symmetrical structure. Motifs are progressively added until the texture becomes contrapuntally dense. The whole is then deconstructed following the same technique. I chose clarinets to evoke traditional Albanian music and mixed them with electronic instruments and effects to create unusual timbres. I wished to develop more ideas into several other tracks, but I have a busy Sunday. I hope you'll enjoy the music, and thanks for listening!
See you,
Rimflo

Them short woodwinds. Always love em! Love where that bass comes in, love the contrast with the softer woodwinds. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you! Happy to read that you liked the instrumentation :)

Sounds great! I love the rhythm of this track! I love the panning of these tracks too and think it is really cool, someone mentioned the panning earlier too and I think I'd like to build more upon that, I think most of the panning is really good, I feel the bell is the only instrument for me that may overstep sometimes but It is mostly because it is a hard hitting instrument while the right ear has softer contrast so I feel the bell dominates over it. I still want to emphasize I really like the panning though I think it is really cool, and I like the silence that you give to allow all the instruments speak! Do you take any inspirations from any specific composers by the way I am curious? This was a nice listen!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback! After listening to the track again, I cannot but agree with you. Once you notice that the bell is located on one side, it gets annoying. There could definitely be some improvement in the stereo distribution of sounds.

I took inspiration from Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and, to some extent, Max Richter. All of them share a minimalist approach to music, although they apply different procedures to organise their materials.

Ah, I really liked how you composed this track so I'd have to listen to some of them then! I am not too familiar with minimalist composers but I have seen some very cool works around it.

The panning was a bit too harsh for my taste (it's a little disorienting) but other than that I enjoyed this track and really liked the idea you shared!

Developer(+1)

Hey, thank you for your feedback! I admit that I like heavy stereo effects... I'll try to pay more attention to that next time. :)

Hi there! I think this track is really good, congratulations! I loved the syncopation and the motifs where nice too. The only thing I would change is that string that repeats the same note over and over. I would prefer to not have it or at least make it quieter.

Great job!

Hey, thank you for your feedback!

I added the violas at a late stage because I felt there was a need for a harmonic filler. Without them, the soundtrack felt very empty, particularly in the first minute. I agree that they could be mixed differently, as their presence is definitely too noticeable at the beginning.

Yeah no worries, sometimes is just what you prefer with is completely subjective :)

👏👏👏👏 Love the focus on Rhythm!

Developer

Thanks! :D

Really nice piece of music! I enjoyed it from start to finish. It is the first submission I've heard with a focus on rhythm. Very well done and the build up is awesome. Great job!!!

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear that the piece isn't boring. I was afraid that the build up would come much too late. There is still room for improvement, but it's nice to read that the track is enjoyable. Thank you! :)

Love this composition! Especially the bassline coming in, felt really cool when it dips in and out.

Developer

I admit that choosing the synth that would play the bassline took me quite some time hahaha. Happy to read that it pays off! Thank you. :)

Love the idea of taking the g minor chord and breaking it down into a broken chord/arpeggiated the notes so it gives me that feeling of various puzzle pieces falling into place, it fits the investigative detective game imagery! I can feel the tension and almost see the clues all starting to make sense in my head. Thank you for making this and thank you for commenting on my track! I'm glad you like it :D

Developer

That's very satisfying to read that the track manages to create an atmosphere that matches the concept of the game! Thank you for your review!

I really enjoyed the extreme syncopation throughout the track! It made the whole thing feel alien and the instrument choice aided that a lot!

It was a bit quiet and I think it might have taken too long to get to the more full section with not enough time spent there.

Still really cool and well done!

Developer

Totally agree with you. The mastering and the build-up are the two things I would revise if I could. Thank you for your nice feedback!

Loved the orchestration and I was definitely vibing hard once it started picking up at around a minute in.

Submitted(+1)

Oh also - did you make the art yourself? The art and tagline fit the music so well.

Developer

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the track, and thank you for your feedback!

In fact, I outlined a very precise idea of the game when I was brainstorming, and this included not only the plot, but also the visual atmosphere. I am not a graphic artist, so I decided to try to generate a cover using AI. I was lucky: the results I obtained matched perfectly what I had in mind. I'm happy that the whole feels coherent. :)

There are some really nice motifs in here. The only critique I have would be that the mix comes out really quiet on speakers. The actual content itself is great however! Really nice work.

Hey, thanks for your feedback! You're absolutely right, the mastering isn't great. I was a bit busy and didn't pay enough attention to it. Next time, I will! :)
