Description
Our team of two created a soundtrack consisting of 4 themes: a title theme, battle theme, exploration theme and credits theme with an interpretation of the prompt given to us for the jam. We drew inspiration from past experiences with games such as old JRPGs and current modern offerings. The genre is mostly orchestral but with different spins based on the context of each theme. We had a weekend long pow wow where we composed all 4 pieces, and then during the course of the remainder of the jam time we performed mixing and mastering, as well as creating supplmentary materials (check out the title screen on YouTube!). Our process was entirely using performed MIDI and virtual instruments, using Reaper as our DAW of choice.

Message from the artist
Thank you for taking the time to listen to our submission!

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
We extracted some key elements from the image prompt, namely the subject's ethnic style, as well as loosely the aquatic atmosphere, however, we also drew heavy inspiration from games we had been playing recently that were reminiscent of elements of the prompt.

Fine soundtrack, visuals are nice, good work.
Also... is the title with umlaute "Inside my Wörld", or it's just graphical ornament above "O"?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for listening, just a graphical ornament to look like bubbles, I didn't even think about it being interpreted as an umlaut!

Nice composition, arrangement and piano pieces. I would look at 1 min of Title Theme, there is a lot happening in the mix its getting a little too muddy and with lots of high end that pierce a bit too much its almost causing some distortion.  Other tracks are fine for the mix, interesting mix between a trap beat with some ethnic feeling for the battle theme. Good job !

Okay...

It's been quite an interesting experience. You've got a beautiful blend of electronics, ethnic instruments and... melochnoliciousness :_ (Especially the last two tracks, heh.)

Thanks!

Composition was amazing!

Gotta love that battle theme!! love the drums coming in ^_^

I enjoyed the credits theme and loved how unique the battle theme was from everything else. You guys did really well for not being used to making this kind of music.

Great work! You two nailed the theme, that was really pleasing to listen to! My favourite track is "Path of Tranquility" that was good!

That was such a nice complete ost, and with the video it made it even more relatable. I think someone was talking of a bit too much reverb, but it doesn't really detract from the compositions. This is a game I would absolutely play!

Really cool - Japanese koto and daiko over trap beats was unexpected! But you do hear that happening now, there was a fair amount of that sort of combination in the Breath of the Wild music (the Maz Koshia music came to mind), so it totally works. And alongside that you've got reflective piano music as well with little hints of East Asian instruments too, which I really like. Awesome stuff!

Thank you very much for listening and commenting on the pieces as well as providing a reference, I will go check that out!

Cool submission! I really like the peaceful feeling that "Our Final Reverie" gave. It has the perfect resolved yet bittersweet feeling that an end credit track should. Good work!

I really liked the spinning island it really gave the video game vibe!

I was really surprised when the bass came in on the battle theme because of how different it was from the strings but it was good!

With the super unique battle theme I think some of the other tracks could have had some more surprising instruments but it was great overall.

Very relaxing and serene (with the exception of the battle theme). The battle theme was impressively produced, with big orchestral drums transitioning into trap style percussion and then switching back. Good definition on the drums, punchy and stood out very well.

The entire soundtrack is slightly heavy on the reverb, but it's not that a big deal with the exception of 0:54 on the first track. The reverb gets out of hand when the pianos block chords change and it gets very muddy. It's a good idea to put a highpass on the reverb when the low end starts to build up like that. Additional ways to fix it are to change the pianos voicing to more open chords (eg. for a C major chord, instead of C E G go with C G E), reduce the reverb time or the wet amount.

Enjoyable soundtrack overall, good work!

Thank you for listening, as well as providing constructive feedback. This was our first time mixing music in this space as we typically come from creating and producing metal. Looking forward to participating again in the future and will take your notes into account :) looking forward to listening to your submission shortly!

Ah that makes sense, yeah mixing in a new room is always weird, there are a lot of things you don't think of and take for granted. No problem, happy to lend a hand.

The Title theme is inspiring and soothing at the same time, and together with the graphics it made me want to play such a game :) like it very much, also love the strings and overall orchestration and instruments.

Battle theme is a wow for me in the way how varied it is, great job.

Exploration theme is lovely and calming, and the Credits theme's melody is so nice and reminds me of music from Makoto Shinkai's movies :)

I also like the leitmotif being noticeable in the tracks, and overall how they compliment each other. Great soundtrack!

Thank you very much for your comments on each piece and noting a reference of what it reminds you of, I will go compare :)

Really cute main theme :) Enjoyed it a lot.

Some Asian Vibe for the battle theme. Great instrumentation and this (trap maybe?) drums are a great addition for mixing genres ^^

Eploration theme is really chill and lovely, it do the job.

Last one is a beautiful but would add some orchestra or chamber instruments like violins joining to the end for a maximum impact.

Thanks for your comments on each piece and your feedback, much appreciated!

Big fan of the exploration theme! The gentle textures of the soundtrack are superb and really match the graphic (the design is really cool btw) you made to go with it.
