Description
I made a classical, piano solo soundtrack for the game! I added a longer description in the project, but basically:
The first theme, "más que dos" (or "codo a codo") is a reencounter track for when he dreams about their time together .He wakes up to the sound of a voice from outside the house in his last memories and there she is, singing row row from inside the boat.
The second theme "por una última vez" is translated as "for a last time" and is their last encounter, and the final dialogues of the game. When they both talk about life and death and she, as if replacing Charon's function, crosses him from shore in the rowboat.

Message from the artist:
Hope you guys like it! it was very challenging as I tried to limit myself in order to expand my horizons, but i'm glad the final result came out!

Theme:

Wish upon a star
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
the story features the sea and a wish granted by a star for a man in his last moments. He wants to see his wife again.

Thanks you!

Your piano writing and the emotions you convey through your music is amazing. Your tracks are very varied throughout so you feel hooked but in the meantime it portrays a single emotion, a moment. It's hard to describe but the best analogy I can come up with is that you draw a vivid painting with different colours and varied parts that are still all interconnected. What an emotional journey. Fantastic entry!

Thanks! I  would have liked to finish one more song, but "por una ultima vez" took me most of the jam time. I'm glad you liked my music!

Codo a Codo: This is a beautiful piece that captures the joy someone feels when thinking or dreaming about another person. Great piano work here!

Por Una Ultima Vez: The opening step-down chord progression is a great way to foreshadow the bittersweet farewell that we know is coming. There are so many great harmonic colors you use throughout this piece. This enhances the story and allows us to feel all the nuances of the complex emotions two people share throughout a relationship. These are beautiful piano tracks. Thank you so much for sharing!

thanks you for your kind words! I loved your interpretation! I definitely tried to tell a story in both tracks and i'm glad to hear you heard it

What a lovely soundtrack!  There's a certain quality to solo piano pieces that you just can't get anywhere else, and these in particular are so beautifully composed!  I think that, especially within the time constraints, having a limitation like this single instrument opens way to laser focusing on other aspects to really make it flow well and be truly polished.  There's not a single point in either track that feels harsh or out of place, making for a beautiful experience.  Great work!

Thanks you very much for your kind words! Definitely it was a very rich experience and as you say, reducing the instrumentation allowed me to concentrate on polishing many aspects of my work. I'm glad you liked it!

amazing job!! “Una Última Vez” has such a beautiful story in its harmony, and you played both tracks beautifully

Glad to hear you liked it!

This is beautiful! You are a great piano player!

Thanks you! I do not consider myself to be a great pianist, but I feel a little more confident now that you say so!

Props to keeping on piano solo! I was going to do the same in the beginning, but i just ended up adding other thingsˆˆ; Very beautiful music, I love how you didn't overlook the interpretation aspect with the rubatos, especially even more important for solo pieces like this.

Nice arrangement of let me row! Interesting choice to switch in 3/4 in the middle, it adds a mobility and avoids monotony. I also like conjoint bass line in For a last time, really suits well to the last dialogue of the game. Good job!

Thank you for listening so attentively! I put a special effort in the harmonizations of both themes, to achieve something coherent with the theme! And I wasn't sure about my interpretation, I'm glad you liked it!

It is a fun challenge to limit yourself to a classical piano soundtrack! You managed to give two very different feelings with the two tracks which is great.

The second one is my favorite, probably because of the emotional torment it traduces. And because of some beautiful chords and changing directions!

Nice OST that could fit in a story driven game or film like the one you imagined, thank you :)

Thanks you for your kind words! It certainly is fun and, in some way, a good training to compose with limitations! I would love to hear my music in a movie if at any time there is an opportunity hehe

This is some beautiful piano work. Love the progression in the second track. Second track is my favorite, its just so beautiful. Amazing work!

Developer

Thanks you very much! For the harmony, I tried to prioritize long bass lines descending, rather than thinking about what functions I was in at any given moment. Thinking about the film instead of the photo, in a way.

Great work! When you write for solo piano you gotta make sure the piano sounds nice and you did that wonderfully. The gentleness and expressiveness as well as the quality of the sound of the piano itself is great.

thank you very much for your words! I wasn't very confident about the execution of the works, I haven't studied piano for a long time, but I'm glad you liked it, although I think it can improve a lot!

I loved both of the piano tracks! As a piano player myself, I really like the chord progressions you picked and they both match with the storyline that you wrote + fit with the game jam theme.  That was probably the most melancholic version of the Row, Row, Row Your Boat song I heard haha. The lamenting bass and simple melody you picked for Una Última Vez worked so well together and I'm so glad I listened :) Great music!

Developer

Thanks so much for commenting! Your words are very kind, especially considering that you are a fellow pianist! When I was writing the plot, the row row melody slipped between my lips and I ended up whistling it. So I gave it to the wife character hehe.

Gorgeous compositions. mas que dos: I find this very pleasant to listen to, so emotional, really sounds dreamy. una última vez: made my heart melt. Very nice harmonies, especially the descending lines.  Exceptionally well constructed. Did you play this on an actual piano?

Developer

Thank you for writing! After the hours invested, it is always nice to receive this kind of feedback. I used "The grandeur" library and a midi cable to record from my keyboard.

Very melancholic, and I love the chord progressions/switches in your compositions! I'm a little confused about one of the tracks though: is it "Codo a codo" like the download says or "Mas que dos" like it says on Soundcloud?

Even though this is technically for a game ost, I could easily see these songs being used in one of those short films where there's no dialogue. The story you came up with is really bittersweet too.

Developer

Thanks for commenting! I focused a lot on looking for harmonic possibilities that would make the melody dramatic, which is really quite simple in both themes. I'm glad you liked it

Regarding the name, it was my mistake, thanks for the heads up. Just corrected it. I named that track after a poem by Mario Benedetti, and while naming it I used a different verse than the one I intended. It says

"si te quiero es porque sos
mi amor mi cómplice y todo
y en la calle codo a codo
somos mucho más que dos."

(if I love you it is because you are   //  my love, my accomplice and everything  //  and in the street side by side  //  we are much more than two.)

I decided to make the soundtrack for piano only to force myself to explore combinations of textures, accompaniment forms, harmonies and melodies interesting enough in themselves to sustain that there is no timbral variety. I also limited myself in the use of my DAW. I composed everything on paper first, then ran the final version of the score in sibelius and recorded it all through the wee hours of this morning -I had to leave early from Christmas dinner, sorry mom if you are reading this-.

Finally, I hope those of you who get here enjoy the music! I look forward to reading them

BTW: I apologize if I did not give much relevant information in the upload. I was running out of time (I literally delivered for 26 seconds), but in compensation I'll answer any questions in comments! (Yes, any)
