Description
I created the soundtrack for a small, story-driven indie game using Logic Pro. Although I'm not well-versed in specific genres, the music is instrumental and features orchestral instruments.

I planned that the tracks be dynamic and enhance the atmosphere where the art alone cannot. Secondly, this music should not be played on repeat in the game. Ideally, it would fill in occasionally when the natural ambiance of the ocean would get repetitive.

"Sailing With Stars" is the theme music of the game. It should be utilized periodically during the main sailing adventure.

"Fine Morning to Sail" is brief, cheerful music for the player when they wake up/ begin to sail in the morning.

"Storm at Sea" for when the player encounters a storm while sailing.

"Swimming With Sharks" for when the player encounters threats while on the sea such as monsters or sharks.

"The Monster Who Shatters Stars" is used as stars begin to crumble and rain on the player's boat and is used as the final boss battle.

The final track, "I Have One Wish!", sets for a light-hearted end of the game. At that point, the main character, Cadeau, makes a "good wish" to reverse her "bad wish" to end the world.

Theme:

Wish upon a star
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Every track holds the light pangs of a celeste, as a reminder of the ever-present stars twinkling over a bobbing boat. No matter what good or foul happens on the player’s mission, the waves are always moving.

I embody the waves' characteristics in my music with its unpredictable ups and downs throughout each track.

From the picture, I thought of a cheerful sailing adventure of a young girl turning a “bad wish” into a “good wish”. I made my music lighthearted yet determined to embody that hopeful youthfulness.

The last track, “I Have One Wish!” strays from the rest of the music as a somewhat comedic relief. It takes a role when the main character makes a simple wish under the “Grand Star” for everything to go back to normal.

Sailing With Stars: With so many emotions, this track works well as a main theme as it summarizes and foreshadows the rest of the soundtrack. I like the use of the I-bVII vamp which feels adventurous. Then the minor section introduces danger, but then modulates very smoothly back into major - very well executed.

Fine Morning to Sail: Interesting use of the pentatonic scale to convey sailing and setting off for adventure. The use of brass and strings sells the oceanic vibes.

Storm at Sea: When I listen to this, I picture looming dark clouds and deep ocean swells. I’m not sure this theme makes me feel like I’m in the middle of a storm, but I definitely get the feeling of a storm starting. I do really like the trade off from each of the short string instruments with the long brass notes playing overtop.

Swimming with Sharks: This has a very dark ambience that makes me think of shark fins circling the ship in the water. You convey danger very well with frequent use of the major 7th scale degree.

The Monster Who Shatters Stars: This track feels like the climax after the last two tracks hinting at danger. I really like the use of timpani to add some momentum which in turn adds action to the song. This would sure be an epic boss battle!

I Have One Wish!: This sultry track feels like all is well in the world again after the intensity of the dangers and battles. It’s a drastic change in styles, which accompanies your drastic shift in mood within the game. I really like the use of slides in trombones - after all that’s what they are designed for! It was a pleasure to listen to your soundtrack - thank you for sharing!

This is pretty good!  There were a good few bits that loosely reminded me of the Psychonauts 2 soundtrack and I was a big fan of those.  Overall, a very cohesive and driving soundtrack.  great work!

Nice orchestrating! The Monster Who Shatters Stars had a great ominous energy, especially after 1:30

I liked the instrumentation in this whole soundtrack. It's well written and plays between themes and variety in a balanced way!

The very last song has a really cool cartoonesque vibe to it, it's funny in a good way :) I had fun listening to it, thank you.

Absolutely beautiful!! swimming with sharks is my fav song!! Your composing gives such a unique aura, it sounds amazing! You should be very proud of your songs, and I love the little lore to the songs too! I hope Cadeau restores balance in the end! ^-^

The big orchestra sounds really do seem to capture the grand and epic feel that correlates so closely with the theme, I would say. A lot of different instrumentation going on, too, which provided the songs with a lot of depth and variety. Nice stuff! Definitely couldn't manage orchestral stuff like this myself.
