Message from the artist:
It's for my Song of Morus game project. The current game is https://sunnychowtheguy.itch.io/song-of-morus-soulful-scarlet . but i may develop more game/content in future

Theme:

Story of Seasons

How does it fit the theme?
i created 4 soundtracks. each of theme is inspired by a festival of a season

Spring - Auspicious Time For a Challenge 挑戰吉時
It's for self-challenge game stages. Chinese New Year is in spring. As the protagonist Song is a taoist preist, it makes sense to go Chinese style fully, with a suona.

Summer - Let the Melon Surf 衝浪西瓜
In South side of China, there is a folk tradition that if someone drown to death and the corpse is lost, people will throw a watermelon to water and expect it helps the corpse to float and be found.
For the game scenario, i would imagine a drown ghost who claims the seabed as home and haunt fisher boats if overfishing. This song may be the BGM of protagonist fighting her.

Autumn - Labyrinth of Lantern Riddles 燈謎奧陣
the original idea is for Mid-autumn festival.

i am imagining a character who is festival themed spirit/ghost, holding a rabbit lantern, with other colorful lanterns in the air around her. If you get attracted by her lanterns and get too close, you will be trapped in her dimension until you solve her riddles.

i am not sure if it's a good BGM for STG playtime. but solving riddles while dodging bullets seems like a new idea.

Winter - The Nun with A Holy Crossbow 配持神聖十字弓的修女
The biggest festivial in winter is not doubt Christmax. And i also have an idea too add a nun character in the story to be protagonist's rival. She will be a vampire-hunter Catholic nun with an oversize semiauto crossbow that really looks like a cross.
The scenario for this music would be her fighting Song because of all the cultural/religius misunderstanding, especially when Song is trying to tame a vampire instead of killing it.

Love all the different eclectic and creative instrumentation you've got going on. Labyrinth of Lantern Riddles is my favorite, and I cant help but chuckle imagining a nun with a crossbow. Sounds like she's out for blood though! Very fun soundtrack. Nice job!

The protagonist is a taoist priest. So in the nun's view, she is technicially a heretic casting necrotic witchcraft.

Burn the witch!

I don't think I've heard anything in this style in the jam yet! My favorite track was The Nun With The Holy Crossbow

I really wanted to enjoy The Nun With The Holy Crossbow - just, because - and I did NOT leave disappointed. Nice work.

This is a super creative concept! While some of the tracks could have benefited from a few extra instruments, there is undeniably a lot of thought and creativity that went into this.

Love the concept. Tries pretty hard to be touhou, but falls short. Clearly a lot of soul was put into this though, and honestly that's the most important thing to me.

well. the situation is more complicated . the primative concept of the whole project is indeed just an anime girl with asian cleric job shooting paper spell to another anime girl. so yes, it really sounds like touhou. but from that point, i actually tried quite hard to make it not too close to touhou. But i feel it ends up in Uncanny Valley, that the non-touhou-fans feels it's a copy, but touhou-fans feel the game doesn't behave as what they expected.

I will pay more attention on it.
