I did like seeing Orcs in a story where they aren't necessarily the bad guys. Would have preferred 'smarter' (like Mantic Deadzone Orcs) but I'll take what I can get.

Developer

Thanks, that’s a valid preference. I like the goofy clueless orcs but Ilike to think they’re talented in other ways. Maybe a scene where a baffled human visits the orcs and they explain their customs and culture.

I like that these orcs use they/them and have trouble keeping track of human genders! Great energy in the dialogue and all around

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I tried really hard to keep them neutral and avoid the male coding you see in 40k. Why create this awesome alien genderless race and then call them all “boys”?

Dat wuz proppa smart!

Developer

Not nearly as smart as yours! I loved every part of it!

A lovely little vingnette! Though, with the tall and short orc, along with Orcs being more pirate themed in GDF, I felt you missed a good opportunity for a Captain Hook and Smee reference. :P

Developer

I gotta be honest, I totally missed the pirate angle. There’s even a pirate in the army list! Now I wanna make orcs piloting land ships in the desert, kinda like big dumb jawas.

maybe that’s what these characters become after they get their new wheels 👍🏻

Agree nice juxtaposition from the usual treatment of orcs.

Developer

I’m guilty of protagonizing orcs and goblins in all my stuff. Players in my D&D games eventually caught on and started siding with the “bad guys” cause obviously I’m gonna throw that twist in there.

You all aren’t desensitized to that yet, though! Muahahaha!

lovely job at diplomacy by both parts,  and the smallguy happyness by learning he'll get to roadkill rusty buckets put smile on my face

Developer

Thank you! I’m glad the lack of action didn’t seem to bother anyone.

This was hysterically funny and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It would be perfect as a fluff piece in an army book.

Developer

Thanks! I’m super glad the humor wasn’t too out of place. It’s orcs, it’s gotta be goofy! But I worry about going overboard.

Not out of place at all - the humour hit just the right tone. It helped that the orcs had distinct characters; they weren't identical cardboard cutouts.

I like that the story immediately sets itself apart from 40k and other sci-fi by having the Orcs involved in diplomacy. The conversations that help build up the world of Grimdark are really nice actually! And Muckstard is a great, great character and not one I will be forgetting anytime soon

Thank you! I loved your entry and really appreciate your comments. I’d be happy to think my goofy banter style and your internal horror style can work together to show off the worlds of OPR games!
