Dude this is ridiculously good. I was going to gripe about the camera and suggest you should be able to drag the view around with the middle mouse button, then I dragged the view around with the middle mouse button so I have no criticisms left. Incredible job, great entry!

This game is pretty fucking impressive. The ai pilot the ships in really beautiful, elegant ways that also clearly communicate their intentions. The gameplay is hard, but it teaches itself to you through the ui in a really intuitive way. The first time I scrolled around the map I was pretty stunned by how big it is - I actually felt pretty lost in space. The first time I saw enemies coming, I felt genuinely threatened. Looking forward to playing this a lot and getting better and better at it.
Just copy pasting my tips in here because I think the first wave is quite difficult for new players but it's quite easy once you know how to start out:
Tips:
- If you have nothing else selected, you can right click to move the war machine, move it close to metal and gas at the start as you need these the most
- Put your first miners on metal and gas to help build more miners
- Try to get to your miner limit as soon as possible, this starts at 20 and can go up to 35
- Before the first enemy wave comes you should aim to have built a beam frigate or missile frigate and 4-5 fighters
- The first wave is quite difficult until you figure out how to start and then it becomes a lot easier
Fun game. Liked the "AI" of the ships fighting. Reminded me of Gratuitous Space Battles very much.
Brilliant game! I played this for hours. It took me a few attempts to survive the first wave without losing all my miners, but once I got a foothold I was able to hold out each time and start building larger and larger ships. Really great job on your submission! I’d love to see more of this.
This game is beyond impressive. So much love, devotion, and hard work went into this project. I can't believe that this was done in such a short amount of time. With some additional work and polish, this would be a worthy purchase.
The sheer scope is very impressive! The ship movement is very satisfying!
Very impressive, I think, to pull this off in the given time!! And also fun to see someone else using monogame! I've already sunk almost an hour into this game but i still feel like it needs more time to be properly evaluated. Reminded me of the classic windows shareware game "Warpath" that I played in childhood. If you plan on working more on this it would be nice to get some more visual feedback from interacting with the buttons, they feel a little stiff at times, but that's obviously a small detail. I'm definitely going to have a peek in the source to see if I can learn from you! :) Well done!
Well done! Good variety of units, and interesting concept - clearly much effort was put into it. If you decide to work on this project more in the future, fast forward option would be nice between waves.
