Overall a great job! I wrote down my thoughts as I was playing, then came over here and realized that it was almost exactly the same as HiImBarney's review. So I'll second that, and add a couple things.

The lateral movement vs diagonal conveyor belts didn't bother me at all. I thought it worked well with 8-way movement.
There were moments where it would be unclear whether the item I was entering was registered, like if the player model was at a shallow angle to the box, or if the box would go behind a pillar, etc. I think either removing the ability to drop items on the floor, or adding some more visual feedback on placing items would help a bit.
I was having trouble cycling through the inventory, remembering which way was up and down.  If the mouse wheel is a usable alternative as HilmBarney alluded to, that's great. Personally I didn't realize that. Perhaps I missed it in the controls screen. But I would remove the use of x and z if possible, or at least make them swappable, like invert-y-axis is in many games.

Again, great job, great game, and good luck in the voting!

Thank you for the feedback!

We would like to add small items shown in the box to indicate an item being put inside.

The scroll wheel does move the inventory slots, Z and X were added for anyone who wanted to use strictly keyboard and just sit back and relax B )

Items dropping on the floor serves 2 purposes. 1, Fun! drop a few items, kick them around, adds a little flare in our opinion. The other use is for strategically gathering items as to not fill your inventory. In the future, items will weigh you down and make you go slower so that would be a more effective strategy once implemented.

For a 48h game jam, it looks and plays really well!

Gameplay-wise, it's really well structured. I tried to play it without looking at the tutorial first and within some seconds I already knew what I had to do, so props to that. It's a fun loop for whoever likes games like Overcooked, for instance. My only complaint is that if you pack everything quickly, you have to wait for the whole belt to deliver the packages to the van... this game would benefit from a "fast forward button"... or else go full overcooked and spawn infinite requests until a timer runs out.

Art-wise, the models look really good and the sad Amazon made me laugh. My minor complaint was that the game's "cover art" is really different from the game that we get (like pixelated logo over 2D drawing to full 3D game). It's a minor detail for a game made within 48h, though.

Overall it was a fun game, great job!

Thanks man!

The game was very well done.

I found it quite a frantic experience and accurate representation of what it would feel like to work for Boris-zon Prime Incorporated. :D

Summary:

Adherence to Theme
  • You hit the nail on it's head, not much to add but it was a bit obvious in hindsight.
Game Design
  • Gathering... Or "packing" stuff as you will, to fulfill orders was quite hectic, as it should be.
  • Overall the Gameplay Loop was pretty intuitive, although in the larger levels I felt like sometimes missing a box that didn't show up. I don't like that you wait for the belt to finish until you get your report, which can take quite some time on a big level.
  • I had some troubles fiddling with the controls.
  1. Firstly, as mainly, my mouse wheel was not accepted the second time around playing this. (I did not take this into account at all when rating, as the problem may be lying by my system.)
  2. Secondly, the conveyor belts where all slanted, while my movement as sort of shoved in the vertical and horizontal direction, due to how the Keyboard inputs where handled. A bit room for improvement there.
  • There is a certain push towards hording up all components and be set for the entire game. I don't criticize this harshly because it might feel sluggish without but considering a bigger release, this might be something to think about!
Originality
  • Gameplay loop was unique and refreshing!
  • I personally don't like the whole corona theme going on, it already sucks that we are in this situation and have to search for escapism at home, don't really enjoy the many Covid themes in this jam, although I can relate somewhat to it.
Style
  • The menu and UI design is the best one I've seen this Jam so far, hands down!
  • The graphics where clear and visually appealing! Everything was well structured and visible.
  • The depressed Amazon Logo was a treat!

Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We would like to continue so I would like to respond to a few points

1) We would love to add once every box is filled, the conveyor belts would speed up and finish the level quickly

2) Normalizing controls on a 45 degree camera proved to be a challenge haha, we will for sure tweak that to perfection, after all, a game is only as good as their controls!

3) In the future, items will have weight to them. You could probably carry 9 masks without much slowing but 9 barbells? definitely not.

4) The corona theme would probably be scrapped when it is all over, just added to the story when it came to the "Quarantine Jam"

I pretty much like all of these suggestions a lot! The weight idea is pretty nice. I understand the thing with the corona theme. Was just a personal thing. Looking forward to hording a bunch of Blins!

The Animation and art is well done! The only thing that bothered me was the movement that felt a little bit buggy. However the concept is great, to give the player more feedback you could make the score permanently seen in game and a end scenario that brings you back to the menu. Overall well done!!!

Developer

Thank you! The score is just a bit janky because we are working on polishing it out but the TV does show your stocks throughout the game. we just didnt have time to make the scores reeealy mean anything.

Works perfectly, the main char is really nice to look at when mooving ^^ It takes me 1 mn to understand that i actually picked up items in my inventory, maybe mak a bit  more clear that you picked up smthg? (louder noise, animation)?

QUESTION : Is that what it feels to work in a GAFA warehouse ? ^^

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed. I hope to continue adding to this over time and we will definitely make everything more clear :D
