Really liked the puzzles ! The game was really pretty ! Like many others, I didn't really liked the screen shake xD

Also, I didn't really feel the 80's in the game and it's more fantastic than magical realism for me.

But it's a really great and pretty game ! Good job !

Thank you! You're right, it is a lot more fantastic. I only ever write stories in a setting completely not of this world so the theme took me way out of my element

Great job with your game! I really enjoyed the story and got invested.  I liked puzzles too.  That last one was tricky! My favorite aspect of your game was definitely the art.  Really cool hand drawn style and I liked notepad paper.  Like some of the other players I was a little off-put by the screen shake, but definitely just a minor thing.  I think it's a good idea and adds to the game, but maybe just a little more subtle, not that it's particularly aggressive now.  Didn't hold back from me thoroughly enjoying your game though!

Thank you for all of the kind feedback

Unlike everyone else, I didn't mind the screen shake haha but yeah, maybe tone it down a bit of make it so it doesn't affect the text and maybe it won't hurt people's head. Your art is great and the art direction was really well made. I enjoyed the story, very magical but I don't think it quite fits into the realism part too much. Congratulations on making your game :)

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad one person didn't mind the camera shake as much. I agree that the story didn't fit into magical realism too strongly. At first, I was going to explain the character's conjuration with interdimensional magic that combines different realities to make it appear as if the object she conjures was always there to others. I think that would've fit the theme more than vampires but I went with vampires.

It seems to me that you're passionate about what you created, so I think that was the best option :)

Pros

  • Fantastic visuals, among the best I've ever seen. The character designs are incredible, I'm amazed at your talent! I also really like the paper style, very original and unique.
  • Beautiful music, very fitting.
  • I actually liked the voice effects, I thought they were very fitting.
  • Loved the puzzles! They were simple but fun with the right amounts of challenge.
  • Perfect implementation of the magical realism theme.

Cons

  • As previously mentioned by other players, the shaking effect is not very pleasant. At first I thought it was a really interesting addition, but as I kept on playing, it made feel a bit uncomfortable. Still, it didn't really affect my experience with the game and I was able to enjoy it!

Overall: incredible game with some of the best visuals I've seen in a long time. Very interesting ideas, very original aesthetic and concept and great implementation of the theme. Amazing work!

Thank you for playing and reviewing the game! I'm thinking that I should do a screen effect like a red overlay or something else less jarring if  I want to do something similar in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyable - a good showcase of doing a lot with a little by reusing locations. The rubbed out line work creates such an interesting effect. And what high-quality character sprites! Good use of puzzles to show the character's emotions as well. Very solid writing, and in an extended take I'd love to see even higher stakes with the puzzles getting near impossible to the point of Kirsten losing control of her powers completely. I noticed in your summary the game has an 80's setting, which I didn't see much of in the game, but didn't matter in the long run. Excellent work overall!

Thanks for all the kind feedback. At first, I was going to make it early Victorian era but when I researched the history of Valentine traditions I realized I had to forward it a few years and I didn't change the art.

Thank you for the feedback. You're the third person in a row to say that the shaking is no bueno so I guess that was a bad choice. The idea stemmed from the game engine's camera stuttering all the time so I thought to make it a feature.

Very sweet! Loved the art, but I found the transitions awkward and the shaking annoying. The song choice was perfect, though. Just a beautiful experience all around.

I really liked the graphics, and the puzzle mechanic was really fun!

I wasn't such a big fan of the shaking effect, so I'm glad it wasn't around in the later scenes. Overall, a cute story and a fun game!
