Played live in VC- gave a lot of feedback, you were there too so i'll keep it short :P - here's the VOD :
The game is super cute, i was so locked in the ending star sound jump scared me a bit lmao. Also it's so hard to get the sheep out of the corner and the sides if they all end up there.
Haha, thank you for playing the game.
Yeah I thought about that ending sound too but didn't have time to adjust it or make it more easily noticeable about the time limits. But I'm very glad to hear that you played the game till the end :D
And the issue with the sheep getting stuck at the trees have also been reported so I will adjust the game post-jam. Thanks again for playing!
The artwork for this game is very cute. I love the sheep!
I also enjoyed the main mechanic of herding the sheep to the different patches of grass. Great job!
I also noticed the spacebar issue, but I see someone else already pointed it out. :)
Thank you for enjoying the game :)
I plan to put up some post-jam updates including fixing the space bar bug once the jam ends, I’m already working on them. I didn’t catch that one because it wasn’t an input for the current game.
Love the art, game play is cool but a bit boring for as long as the timer is there, would have done a smaller time so people at least feel the need to finish it (as I didnt).
Thanks for trying out the game.
Yeah I only had enough time to focus on the one core mechanics and also didn't have time to add much juice to the game so I agree it feels a bit boring.
There's a mechanic that's not spelled out in the game (just written in the description) where the sheep numbers increase every minute so it can actually get pretty hard and chaotic in the last 2 minutes, but I think I could have increase the frequency of the sheep increase to like 30 seconds too, to make the game progression feels more visible.
Anyway thank you for playing and commenting!
The game is very cute and cozy, and I would say fairly accurately recreates the feeling of having to herd sheep. This is exactly how I imagine a sheapeard dog would feel ^^
Did get my flock stuck in the trees when I was trying to make sure one slow sheep doesn't get left behind. But yeah it's a cute game for sure!
Thank you for enjoying it! I love it when you said I was able to capture the feeling of the sheepdog haha, as I tried to recreate it from my memory of a show at a zoo.
Also appreciate it you talked about the bug of sheep getting stuck in the trees, I didn't know about that interaction. I went into the game to try it out and actually found that you can "unstuck" them by just moving away from them for a bit, as they will tend to form a clump, leaving some gap for you to squeeze in between them and the trees. But yeah I will update the game post-jam to make them less likely to get stuck in the trees in the first place.
Thank you again for playing my game!
very cute game!!!! :> the pixel art is very pretty. i couldn't tell how the game fit the theme tho until i read the description. nice work!
Thank you for playing the game!
Another player also commented on the theme integration. I actually don't watch Connor's content (I only found out his name after playing some other games haha). I found the jam on itch so I was just here to do some game dev and do a jam. When the theme "pals" drops I equated it to "friends" so I made a game about animal friends. I didn't know there was like a whole lore behind the personality so I didn't integrate any of those haha. But yeah, learned my lesson and perhaps I should do my due research next time.
But either way thank you for enjoying the game!
Easy to pick up, cute and most of all fun, as it is now I could easily picture it as an activity/minigame inside a larger farming game.
Thank you for playing! I actually have some grand plans for this game, haha, but I will do some post-jam updates first before getting to those😉
Hopefully you will be interested in further development of the game!
One of the best game I played in this game jam. Addicted gameplay. I found out that the space key can softlock the game (luckily can be unlocked by returning to menu)
Thank you for playing the game!
And also thanks for pointing out the bug. It's an artifact of a piece of cut content, but I plan to make post-jam updates for the game. Hope you would be interested in trying it when that drops 😄
cool game! very satisfying when the sheep all clump together xD
Thanks for playing! Your game was definitely very fun too!
i've always wanted to play a sheepdog herding game! the aesthetics and polish on graphics is godlike, and mechanics are well crafted! i was hoping to see more ties to Monkey Jam, but i enjoyed the game nevertheless ❤️❤️
Thank you for enjoying the game! I'm very glad you liked it.
Another player also commented on the theme integration. I'm a bit sorry to say I'm actually not very familiar with Connor's content (I only found out his name after playing other games haha). I just found the jam on itch so I was just here to do game dev and participate in a game jam. When the theme was revealed I just equate it with "friends" so my idea was making a game about animal friends.
But either way thank you for enjoying the game!
Fun little game!
Thanks!
Fun game! I wish there was a way to make the sheep run from you more / less like a bark to make them speed up or something though! Still a great time all things considered though!
Thanks for playing and your feedback!
Yeah I originally plan to have at least one more gameplay mechanics with barking too but I decided against it to have time to polish some other parts due to the time constraints. It's an interesting concept I would love to continue working on post -jam. Hope you'll be interested in that. Thanks for playing again.
Great game! love the concept and the pixel art.
Thanks for playing!
