Simple pixel art, nice shooting mechanice)

Its pretty good for what it is, the only things missing are audio and maybe some kind of feedback when you hit the enemies (maybe some sort of particle effect?)

Developer

Thanks for playing and great idea about a particle effect! Can I ask where you were missing some audio? It should have footsteps, punch noises, music for start screen, end screens, and gameplay. I'd be happy to get more audio effects in there!

I can hear them now that im wearing better headphones, i guess i just didnt hear them or something lol

The game is very nice, and the attack mechanic is very cool!

Nice graphics, simple gameplay.
Took me three tries to understand why was my christmas ruined but when I got that I started PUNCHING
EAT MY FISTS

The idea is solid, having to protect something makes it more interesting.

The pixel art is decent, i would personally make consistent outlines to improve the look.

The gameplay feels a bit unpolished,.

Considering this is your first game and we had only 2.5 days all the above is just nitpicking.
 Amazing work!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback, @Devomi! We both learned a lot from the experience and got to use a game engine and language we've never worked with in Godot's GDScript, so it was a lot of fun!

Funny little game with great pixel art. Would love to see more feature in it like upgrades or so.

For a jam its a great work !

Solid pixel art, and good gameplay.

10/10 would save my frosty friend from the bullies again

I loved:

  • The throwing of hands. My favorite feature for sure.
  • The concept of an Alamo-style game against parents that are thieves. Makes you feel like it is the Kids Next Door.
  • The movement was very intuitive.
  • Love that the snowman moves with you.

I would improve the following:

  • The mouse aiming was not too intuitive for me. Maybe add a target to the cursor?
  • The parents surprised me when running around. Maybe a warning from which direction they are heading?
Developer(+1)

Wow, that is some great feedback and ideas! I think that the target and the directional warning would make it a lot better, for sure! We also want to add "power-ups" to have more powerful weapons or fists. We thought about mace (cloud of smoke that removes the parents) and maybe about a shotgun that shoots multiple bullets (or fists).

Hm, a really nice idea of a top-down shooter, where you have to protect something instead of just fighting for yourself. Neat. A bit unpolished, but really fun!

I love throwing hands

Submitted

"Wanna throw hands??" but in a CUTE ASS GAME! Loved it :D

Developer

Haha, thanks for playing, @Babasheep!

The attacking in this game is the textbook definition of throwing hands, 10/10

Sometimes you gotta punch a Karen to save Christmas and give your kid a Snowby! Thanks for playing it!

Submitted

the pixel art is really good, but i wish the punch was not so long and had more of a impact. only other thing is that the snowman is really hard to control, and a lot of times, he just threw himself in the spawn points of the enemies, so some way of controlling him would be cool

Developer

Snowby was never really supposed to be controlled by the player. He is like a "Tickle Me Elmo" style toy who is just vibing on his own. You just gotta make sure the Karens don't take him. Might be a cool addition to have some way to "grab" Snowby and move him around. Thanks for playing it!

i feel like a grab mechanic similar to Death road to canada's would be fun, just with a slow maybe

Honestly pretty fun! The pixel art is very nice and the game is quite challenging in a good way :)

Thanks for giving it a look!
