I know the limitation on color is meant to be strict.
Does this mean black/white count as colors?
aka if my background is black then I can only use 3 on top of that.
Or can I use 4 colors plus a black background white text etc.

color changing is not allowed, and you can use only 4 colors for the entire game, sorta' like a gameboy game! Here is an example
