Use of the limitation
We used a limited color palette for the sprites, none of which are colored with anything beyond green, dark green, red and yellow. The idea was to create an artstyle which resemble that of a typical Gameboy title.

This was really great! I think the mechanics would have better suited a game with levels and such, but the survival game was a nice surprise! Well done!

youre right! we programmed a platformer's movement into a wave survival game which is a bit odd. we were planning on having platforms and different stages at first but we simply didnt have enough time :/ maybe in a future update tho

Oh love this game!. So much polish for a Jam game.

- Great use of the limited palette to differentiate the different entities in the game

- Tight and responsive controls, never felt that the player character did something different from what I tell to do

- You rock it with the music, fantastic!

Congrats for coming up with this in short amount of time!

glad you enjoyed it! your kind words mean a lot :)

The artwork is amazing. I love how authentic the animations are, and how much character they have. Even if the game loop is not extremely varied, it is super juicy and continually hyped up by the art, music, and animation. Brilliant, brilliant work!

Wow, I love this game. It is one of the best of the Jam. The characters, animation, and particles are incredible. The gameplay is funny and addicting, you have to be aware of so many things. And I love the fact it is so simple. And it fits the topic perfectly. Almost perfect IMO. So sad it does not have that much attention.

Maybe you should add some boosts between rounds so difficulty doesn't grow so exponentially (like a higher fire rate or so). Also, some mechanics like a wall jump and the dash are not so useful when playing

But it was an amazing short experience. Keep it up!

yo thank you so much for the feedback! really means a lot to us that you enjoyed it! unfortunately we dont have a lot of experience with jams so the fact that web games get a lot more attention went completely over our heads :/

A very polished game that is a lot of fun!  I would recommend having the gun fire automatically while holding down fire but more importantly making the game webgl (playable in browser) because that is what is limiting people from trying and rating your game, it should be pretty simple and there are a lot of tutorials on YouTube.  If it was in browser instead of downloading for windows or mac,  I'm sure many more people would be playing this!

Edit: Highest I got to was 24

hey thanks for the feedback! absolutely agree with you. clicking like crazy gets tiring at some point and makes it pretty hard to play on touch pad. and yeah, definitely shouldve made it web playable. this is my second jam ever and i only just realised that web games get A LOT more attention! unfortunately we were running out of time and none of us knows the first thing about making web games, but will definitely take a look! again, thanks a lot!

I forgot about other devices like mac, makes sense now.  As for the browser version since your using unity, you can download the webgl in the unity hub install area and follow this quick tutorial to get it onto itch.  Then you can just edit your itch page to change it.  I hope this helps!

Also you should make a backup of your game first, just to be safe.

dude you actually went out of your way to get us a tutorial, thank you so much, srsly! im currently working on a web version, should be up soon!

It's no problem, I used the same one myself.  Good luck!

Developer(+1)

hey it worked! thanks again for the tutorial!

I'm glad to see you added in holding down fire to fire.  And hopefully now you can get more ratings and feedback!

This is really fun to play! everything in the game was smooth and well polished. the variety of enemies really spiced things up, really did a fantastic job in the game!
