We hope that the greed of the villagers comes across in all outcomes, no matter which dialog you choose. The game is about opportunism, misunderstanding, and greed.

The story is really engaging and well written! It's so frustrating to see how the villagers are greedy no matter what :-[ I got really attached to the dragon hahahah! Very nice experience overall, congrats x)

First off, congratulations on your first game jam! You went about the theme in a very unique way too so nice job thinking outside of the box. It is very simple but I found it quite fun to go through. Pulling off that many dialogue options in such a short time is pretty impressive too. Nicely done all around!

A cute game that had some clear thought and intent put into its development. I always admire jam games that try to create a story in such a short time frame. Cool concept and fun execution!

I'm not sure if there is a happy ending but I got the sad ending :( Great game though!! Writing was really charming and I felt very engaged the whole time! Poor Dragon!!

Thanks so much! Ah, there's no happy ending :( we really wanted to create an "unwinnable" game to go with the endless greed theme/story we were telling - maybe if we had more time (or continue working on it) we would add some less-sad ending options though! So glad you liked it!

This is really really sad.

Like really sad.

The art was pretty decent though!

Some music would be good.

I'd like to imagine that in the afterlife the dragon gets to eat some nice juicy venison and is surrounded by other deceased villagers who appreciate him for his kindness and comedic talent and don't hate him for his horrific facial features.

I'm pretty sure this is an analogy for some deep, societal issue, but I honestly don't know what.

I'd also like to imagine that in the post credits scene the dragon appears to be dead but emerges from his cave to reveal he has 2 extra heads, alive and well. As he slowly walks out, the camera zooms out to reveal the burnt remains of the greedy villagers. He then spreads he massive wings and lifts himself off the ground. Dust blows everywhere as he flaps up and down. Slowly at first, but he quickly gains speed and then soars off into the sky. The golden text appears on the screen "Bargain the Dragon will return..."

Good job.

Thanks so much for such a thoughtful review!! Despite the jokes/some of the lighthearted dialog we were really hoping that this game actually would make you feel sad and helpless in the face of the humans' greed, so this is really amazing feedback to hear. Also loving your headcanon of him getting his revenge haha. Would definitely love to have added some music and SFX, just ran out of time! Learned a lot about time management during this process. Glad you enjoyed  :)

The game features a visually appealing dragon with art that is truly impressive. The dialogue was unexpectedly humorous, and playing as the dragon added an intriguing twist that kept me engaged.

While some dialogue options led to unforeseen consequences, making it challenging to predict how kindness would be perceived by the villagers, this aspect added depth to the gameplay. Despite these challenges, the detailed dialogue and backstory of the individual villagers were enjoyable, enriching the game's narrative and making for a compelling experience.

Really cute concept and game. I love the characters and the cute lil art lol. Love how poor dragon is always misunderstood...really makes you feel helpless T-T

I uploaded the wrong file format the first time (my first time uploading anything to itch.io/participating in a game jam), so just updated the files to a working zip (1hr past deadline). I did NOT change the game at all since before the deadline - just uploaded the missing files so someone can actually play it :)

Edit (again) - finally got the WebGL build supported + uploaded here. I had to remove some very minor text embellishments to get it to work. Per the rules of the jam, the original build is still available, "PlayMiniJam_Dragons.zip", which is basically the exact same game as the webGL plus smoother text animations.
