Nice character sprite. I'd suggest working on the camera. Kind of scary when you can't see anything beneath the player.

Well it's a tutorial, don't know what to say about this lol. The player sprite looks good but the background noise is horrible. The controls work well.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I spent too much time on other sprites and backgrounds that we never used. Maybe I should have worked on things more vertically, only working on sprites that would be ready to use. I'm glad you liked the controls, but I feel like they could still be improved.

lol clickbait

good start, short on content... but what there looks good and plays pretty well... hope you/your team can stick at it... would love to see what a more full game looks like

Developer

Thank you so much! That's very encouraging to hear.

Yay! I won!!! XD

Not really a game, but a very promising start. The gravity needs tweaking.

I liked the "dash up" feature.

Good work. Keep it up!

Ok, managed to jump over gap with dash, the game is way short. The graphic style simple but nice and music along with cogwheels is very intriguing.

Tried to play, but can't proceed after death in gap... "Press any key" screen just doesn't react.

I liked the general feel of the game, including the jump but just as I started to enjoy myself it was over! I still thought it was nice looking and would play more if there was more content.

Thank you for the feedback! I spent a lot of time doing sprite art and a lot of it was never used.  The character controller also took a lot of work, and I still think it could be a lot better.

The sound upon starting the game is very grating, and pressing any key upon dying is not functional. The jump is very floaty, though I see what you were trying to do with going higher by pressing the button longer.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. The "press any key" bug is new. I'll try to fix that. You're right that the jump floats too much. This is the first time I've tried to make a metroivania and I'm blown away by who difficult it is to get a good feeling player controller. I want to improve the feel of the jump so it is more responsive and the gravity is stronger.

What works for me is setting two gravity values, one maximum and one current. The maximum is how strong gravity is at all times, and the maximum speed you fall with. Current gravity increases from 0 to max the more you fall, at your specified rate, but also when you jump you set the current gravity to a negative value so that you fall upward for a bit, the specified rate keeps adding to it until it reaches 0, and then keeps increasing and you start falling again.

Hope this made sense and that it helps
