I like the spark shooting staff , its fun to just keep spamming and run around at times ngl! keep it up
I am 100% sure the cover image is AI-generated. Not only does it not match the game's style (which is made entirely of assets), but I can literally see the artifacts when zooming into it. The dev also made a Flappy Bird game with yet another AI-generated cover image with crazy artifacting, and their other socials are filled with AI.
To then not disclose this in a gamejam, and even go as far as to put a "No AI-generated content" tag on it is shameful.
I understand your perspective, but unfortunately, you don't know that I am" currently developing this on a phone, and I only put this image temporarily. Even if we assume you are an expert, I previously stated that I didn't use Al for the game itself, for my personal page-I am free to do what I want onmy own page. Anyway, thank you for sharing your opinion. As a game ".developer, I appreciate feedback and I will tryto change the image
Doing that in a gamejam is just wrong. I can somewhat understand your reasoning, but it's not a good excuse. I think it is insulting to the developers who put actual effort into not only their games, but their cover art.
Thank you
Cool game! The cover art is honestly fantastic, and I do like the idea of your spell being like a spark, where it interacts with the environment (i.e. spark a light/fire, spark a button). I do wish the controls were a bit more user-friendly, where it could be WASD for the movement since E is the "Cast Spell", and also if there was an alternate jump button like Up Arrow or the W key. Honestly, great game for a 3-day game jam!
Thank you for your opinion .I'm glad you liked it. I'll improve the game.
Hi, just thought I would let you know that the cover image they used is AI-generated :(
Hello, I wanted to let you know that I don't like getting into arguments, especially in my very first competition. Frankly, I don't know the source of the image; I spoke with the artist, but honestly, I wasn't convinced that they were the one who drew it. However, I want to avoid any suspicion. Thank you anyway. Although I am upset because there are no distortions in it, I still appreciate you bringing this to my attention, as it might indeed be AI-generated
I also don't like arguments, but I'm not about to be gaslighted by you into believing you mistakenly used an AI-generated image. Your own profile picture is AI-generated, there's no way you weren't aware of it.
Using an AI-generated image for my profile picture means that I was the one who did it? Actually, this was a mistake and it won't happen again. I will verify the graphics before using them. Thank you once again for alerting me, because I placed my trust in the wrong person. By the way, do you like the new cover?
Generative AI assets is a VERY sensitive topic in the gaming industry and I HIGHLY suggest to stray away from it, even if it's allowed on Itch or other platforms; Clair Obscur was stripped from their GOTY award for using placeholder background newspaper Gen AI art that got patched 1 week from release, so it's definitely a touchy subject.
I know you meant no harm in using it (even if you were aware or unaware), and I would love to see your next works without AI! Game development is a learning process, so don't get discouraged about this and continue to games!
P.S. if your older works do have AI assets, I would suggest removing them as well. If ever you're skeptical or unsure, you can always turn to the community (i.e. Itch community, Game Jam Discords, art friends) to check on it! I'm sure there are tons of people out there who are willing to help
That's tough to hear. For aspiring game devs like us who participate in game jams for fun, I usually give them the benefit of the doubt about whether an asset is generative AI or not, cause there's usually BIG negative feedback for such little gain when you're caught using it.
I totally agree with you, and I also really hope they make their next game without any gen-AI!
Hi, I like the character sprite animations, I thought it was unique to use the fire ball as a mechanic to open doors and press the button, I recommend adding description for the keybinds
Thank you for alerting me
uh I think you might have submitted the wrong game? The one playable in the browser is a Kenney asset-platformer game? It does not seem to match the thumbnail or asset pack you mentioned using.
But the platformer game was interesting!
Try replaying
It seems the game has swapped out, but is there a keyboard button I am meant to press to open the door? I canβt seem to find one that works. I can also just fall to the right of the door and get soft locked.
