So I'm coming from a literature background, where we sort of bounce things around and talk gently about what we like and don't, and I'm really struggling to come to appraising these things numerically.  Any tips?

Speaking as another lit major, I think the best way to approach grading in this context is to acknowledge that it will be a) kind of super arbitrary and b) not to be taken very seriously.

That helps, actually! Thank you.

That, and also consider there are no real winners. One tries to translate their thoughts about the games in “cold” stars ratings.

On the contrary, I think everyone who managed to complete their game and submit it is a winner. As game devs we all know how easy it is to start something but how difficult it is to see it through to completion. Great job, everyone. Give yourselves a pat on the back. :)

I completely agree, but now we have to playtest them! Our work is not finished yet. 😉
